Liked We were on our own, it’s a few pitches behind a house, off a busy road (this makes arrival very easy) Personally the road noise didn’t bother us, we listened to the sheep instead. The pitches were quite level, water by pitch. Lovely area, walks from the site. Recycling bins.
Disliked Some may think it feels like a car park.

Disliked It was busy and the toilets became quite messy, they needed to be cleaned several times a day. No recycling.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us, we welcome all feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your time with us and hope to give you a warm welcome back in the future. Thank you for your feedback regarding the toilets, we check them first thing in the morning but this is difficult to do a lot because they are busy, they are cleaned mid morning and checked again through the day and cleaned if necessary. We find that when they are cleaned they can become messy within an hour due to guests leaving toilet paper etc on the floor and not flushing toilets or mopping showers after they have used them. We do supply brushes, mops and a squeedgy to help reduce the mess. We have now put in a system where the toilet and shower blocks will be closed when cleaning is done we are hoping this will resolve some of the issues. We pay our rubbish collection company to recycle the bins at there depot. Many thanks for your feedback it helps us improve what we do. Thanks again from all at Riddings Wood.

Liked Location. Wifi. Good electricity supply.
Disliked I would not recommend this site. It’s badly managed. You are basically on a car park. The sites are very close together, with very large motor homes allowed and you are looking out onto the yard of a pub. We spent the week looking into the cleaners cart. It was noisy with deliveries, dogs barking, people walking past.
We booked with a caravan, to be told they don’t take caravans. As we’d only booked the day before they allowed us to stay, which we were grateful for.
There’s a cockerel that wakes you up every morning. The staff put a Jack Russell into a kennel on the car park that barks constantly all day. This really shows how little they think of their guests.
We arrived and we were not advised where the shower block, bins, Elsan was. A rather odd fella who seemed to think it was an inconvenience to actually take me to the pitch. The staff didn’t speak to us all week. When we were leaving no one even acknowledged us, despite several of them being there. We stayed 5 nights at £140, so I thought they might say thanks.
We were on pitch 1 and people were constantly walking between us and pitch 2 to get to the beer garden. The tables were right behind us, so pretty noisy on Saturday when it was sunny. Pitch 1 is right next to the car park, so extra noisy with comings and goings. Friday morning a load of men turned up to go for a hunt and parked in the motor home section as the car park was full and were shouting before 8am. There’s no control over who comes onto the pitches. A simple fence would assist.
There’s 1 toilet and 2 shower rooms. You have to walk through the somewhat scruffy working yard to get to it. The shower was good and clean. The toilet could do with cleaning more often.
It’s a great base for walking, so just a shame about the things that let it down.
We didn’t use the pub or the deli.
The pub mainly focusses on accommodation with several pods and cottages.

Liked The site had huge flat hard standing pitches. Electricity supply was very good, as was the water pressure. The cost of the metered electricity was excellent, which made this site a bargain. Very easy to find and close enough to plenty of things to do. Great welcome and easy check out. Plenty of toilets. Quiet site as no children or road noise. Recycling 😀
Disliked Nothing

Liked Beautiful site, beautiful peaceful location.
Disliked Could do with a board to advise what pitch to use on arrival, or to say use any pitch. Pitches are sloping, but the location more than makes up for this.

Liked Loved this site. Fantastic location. Really central to lots of excellent walks. This campsite won’t be for everyone. It’s basic. We stayed for 6 nights and didn’t see anyone. You arrive and choose your own pitch. No problem in low season. We arrived Friday evening and had no problems finding a pitch. All grass pitches, some sloping. 4 separate fields some with electric hook up. The way the hook up are positioned you may end up in close proximity to others. The toilets, showers and washing up area will not be to everyone’s liking. Could be described as scruffy, which we quite like. As long as everything works and is clean. Decent toilet roll and hand wash soap. A hairdryer. A very handy chest freezer, brilliant for cooling drinks, although I’m sure it’s really just for ice blocks. I left some food in there with no problems. Cheap rates for the Lakes, which reflects the facilities.
