Downham Market, Norfolk, England
Power optional grass campsite
Liked this is the 16th campsite of our summer tour and without doubt one of the best. Situated just off the A10 at Denver Downham Market. The site is an excellent mix of seasonal pitches , tents and 1 or 2 motorhomes. 3 fishing lakes , although 2 were shut because of the drought. The site is mature coming with a childrens play area , a centrally located building for toilets, showers and water. They also have food trucks and a bar over the weekends. We cycle , and it took us around 15 mins to reach the centre of Downham. A lovely little Norfolk town, with shops , restaurants and bars. Even a Weatherspoons if thats your cup of tea or pint. There are also pubs within 15mins walk, including the bar at the Golf Club next door. In range of the big air bases at Lakenheath or Mildendall, so you get a glimpse or two of the USAF's planes. Sandra the owner is hands on and usually around. All in all we loved it.
Disliked we could not stay longer.

Liked 3rd time we have stayed here. They are a new and are still building the infrastructure . Showers a welcome new addition and they seem to be building a Coffee shop. Superb view of the USAF fliers and F35's . Katerina is a superb. Hands on, knows her shit and takes no prisoners. 3 lovely fishing lakes. What more could you want.
Disliked nothing.

Liked We spent a few days at this superb location and will return. Great for kids and adults alike. We enjoyed the feeding of the pigs and deer. That was set in stunning woodland which you can also use to walk ( 20mins ) through to get to Overland beach. There is a bar restaurant and more than 1 kids play area.

Liked the location of the site, whilst tricky to get to , is simply stunning. Set in mature woodland , yet only 100m from a deserted ( in July ) beach than went both ways for miles. Attracting a clearly wealthier than normal crowd with lots of nice cars coming and going. We were there when England beat Congo at the WC and watched the game in the restaurant. excellent sausage rolls and scotch eggs. There was a very decent kids play area right behind the restaurant. So it would be easy to have a few beers whilst watching over the little ones.
Disliked the staff all seemed grumpy with a little attitude. no a big issue but clearly the manager has gone missing. Reception staff , restaurant staff and the guy in the shop. Client facing staff need to be happy , positive and look like they care about their environment. Simple stuff , if the manager has his or her eyes open.
