Badger's Den FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked We stayed here for two nights as it was ideally located for visiting Looe and exploring the surrounding area, as well as being close to where we were meeting a good friend for dinner on the Saturday evening.
The site itself is in a lovely location and is generally well maintained. The robotic lawn mower was a surprisingly entertaining addition and certainly kept the grass looking immaculate!
The facilities were good overall, although we did find one issue with the showers. The water was extremely hot, to the point where it was uncomfortable to use. As the temperature appears to be preset with no individual adjustment, we felt it could be too hot for young children. A little more control over the shower temperature would make a big difference.
Our only other disappointment came on the Saturday evening. We made sure to return before the 10pm curfew, expecting the peaceful atmosphere described in the site information. Unfortunately, that wasn’t quite the case. The England match was on that evening and there was a lot of loud shouting at a television, along with groups of people chatting noisily well after 10pm. We completely understand people wanting to enjoy the football, but it did detract from the otherwise peaceful setting.
Overall, this is a good campsite in a convenient location with decent facilities. The issues we experienced were relatively minor and certainly wouldn’t put us off staying again, particularly if the shower temperature and late-evening noise were addressed.
Disliked Hot showers, other noisy guests, no real instructions regarding arrival etc it was turn up and guess - never had any interaction with owner.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked We stayed here for one night during our trip and were really impressed with this lovely campsite. It’s set in a beautiful location with fantastic views, making it a great place to relax and unwind.
The facilities were excellent, with everything you could need, including a washing machine, tumble dryer and a fridge/freezer for guests to use. The toilet and shower block was spotless, clearly well looked after, and it was obvious that it was cleaned and monitored regularly.
We received a warm welcome from Charles when we arrived. He showed us to our pitch, explained where everything was and made us feel at home straight away. He’s a genuinely friendly chap who clearly cares about both his guests and the campsite.
One lovely touch was reading about the history of the site and Charles’ family, which is displayed in the shower block. It’s well worth taking a few minutes to have a read as it adds a real sense of character and heritage to the campsite.
A peaceful, well-maintained site with excellent facilities, stunning views and a genuinely personal welcome. We’d happily stay again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Barnstaple area.
Disliked That we only stopped for one night, we will be back.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite
Liked We had a fantastic three-night stay at this lovely campsite and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The site is very well laid out, making everything easy to access, and despite being a smaller site it has everything you need. We even had the whole campsite to ourselves on the first night, which made for a wonderfully peaceful start to our stay.
The shower and toilet facilities were spotless throughout our stay, and it was great having everything close to hand. The views from the site are great, making it a lovely place to relax after a day out exploring.
The location is perfect for discovering some of Cornwall’s most stunning spots, including Kynance Cove and The Lizard, both of which are well worth a visit. We also loved meeting the site’s feathered residents, especially the emus, which added a unique and memorable touch to our stay.
A friendly, peaceful and well-maintained campsite in a fantastic location. We’d happily recommend it to anyone looking to explore this beautiful part of Cornwall, and we’ll certainly be back again.

Liked We stayed here for three nights at the start of our two-week tour around the South West of England, and it was the perfect place to begin our holiday.
Our pitch was excellent, tucked away in a quiet corner beside a hedge with some welcome tree cover that provided much-needed shade during the blistering sunshine. It felt private, peaceful and very well positioned.
The facilities were first class. The toilets and showers were always clean with plenty of hot water, and the central facilities block made everything easy to access, including the laundry, washing-up area and chemical disposal point. They also have a TV room, which had convenient USB charging points for devices. The reception and sufficiently stocked shop were another welcome bonus.
The whole site is immaculately maintained, and the friendly owners made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. It’s also ideally located for exploring the many local attractions and beautiful beaches in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future. Highly recommended.
Disliked Having to leave after three nights.
