A peaceful little gem

Sep 2026

Liked We really enjoyed our stay here. It’s a lovely little campsite, nice and quiet, and just what we were looking for. The owner was so welcoming and friendly when we arrived. Sometimes the smaller, quieter sites are the best, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. We had a lovely time and would happily come back. Definitely recommend it if you’re after a peaceful few days away. Thank you!

We recently stayed at this campsite…

Nov 2025

Liked We recently stayed at this campsite during the low season and had an overall pleasant experience. The grounds were spacious and offered plenty of open areas where my dog could run freely, which was a big plus for us. The staff were friendly, attentive and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The only drawback was the proximity to London Road, as our pitch was located near the park’s entrance. Unfortunately, the traffic noise at night made it somewhat difficult to fall asleep. Apart from that, it was a pleasant stay, a good spot if you’re travelling with pets and don’t mind a bit of road noise. I would recommend this campsite.

Charming and tranquil campsite!

Oct 2025

Liked We recently stayed at this campsite for two nights with the intention of relaxing and enjoying the countryside and natural surroundings, and it fully met our expectations. The experience was exceptionally peaceful, providing a quiet and restful environment. The owners are very friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the start. The only small note I’d mention is that the washing-up area could use a bit of attention. I don’t blame the owners for this, as it really comes down to users to leave it clean for the next person. I’d also recommend bringing levelling ramps, as the ground is slightly uneven. Overall, this is a charming and tranquil campsite, ideal for those seeking a restful retreat immersed in nature.

After reading many negative reviews about…

Jul 2024

Liked After reading many negative reviews about this campsite, we decided to take a chance and approach it with an open mind. We booked for two nights. Upon arriving at the campsite, we went to find the reception. A bit confused, we heard someone calling to us from a window of a house. The window is the reception! We were attended to, I believe, by the owner's granddaughter. Not even a "hello," and always with a serious expression. What an excellent welcome! She briefly explained where and how we should park and the location of the facilities, all in a very rushed manner. She asked us for a £5 deposit for the bathroom keys (which was not mentioned in the booking terms and conditions), but it was returned to us at checkout. Honestly, I don’t understand the need for a key to use the bathroom, which adds extra stress about not losing the keys when all you want to do is relax. Charging 50p per shower—I've paid for cheaper stays at campsites where the showers were free. When we arrived at our pitch, I found it just okay, especially for a Friday. There was no one in the pitches next to or behind us. You could hear cars passing on the main road, but nothing that would keep us awake. I’m not sure if there’s a kennel nearby, but you could hear a lot of dogs howling in the morning and at night, though it didn’t disturb our sleep. Walking around the park to explore the facilities, it felt like being on a military base. There are signs with warnings everywhere! I didn’t need to bring a newspaper to read while using the bathroom because the door had plenty of notices to keep me entertained. Saturday, it became apparent how small the pitches are. We felt very cramped, quite claustrophobic to be honest! The lake area is very beautiful and well-maintained, but dogs are not allowed even though leashes are mandatory within the park. I walked my dog around the park (except the lake area) and had no issues, or maybe I was just lucky! Occasionally, we could smell sewage, including in the shower. At checkout, we were attended to by the owner, an elderly and very friendly lady who returned our £5 key deposit and wished us a good day! Completely the opposite of the granddaughter’s welcome. In conclusion, it’s a well-maintained campsite with very clean facilities. It’s quiet, with a beautiful sunrise view from one of the lake bridges—perfect! Would I return? I believe so, because I had a relatively good experience.

Disliked Negative points: very cramped pitches and excessive warning signs everywhere.
