Primitive forest floor tent campsite (large)
Liked Location was amazing, nice pitches.
forest pitches felt very close to nature.
The pitches in the forest were a nice size and not too close together.
The available facilities were kept clean
Owner/staff very friendly
Good playground
Disliked Only 1 toilet close to pitches, then another 2 with a shower at the reception area which was a bit of a walk away.
Only 1 shower on site, but it was hot and did the job.
No hot water in sinks for washing up/hand washing
Lots of bits of litter around in pitches and around lake

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked When we arrived we were shown to our allocated pitch. Unfortunately the tent next door had pitched badly and encroached into the pitch allocated to us. The site had no problems in rearranging other pitches to resolve this problem and we ended up with. Decent flat pitch with plenty of room. The facilities are clean and well functioning. The shop had lots of nice things and some camping essentials in case anything was forgotten. There were donkeys alpaca and sheep on site that you could feed. There's a small playground and sandpit, enough to keep our 6 year old entertained. The site is in a beautiful location and was pretty quiet.
There was a strict fires out policy and staff enforced this with a friendly but firm manner and the quiet time was well respected. Staff were always around keeping the site clean and we're very helpful. After each departure each pitch was checked and tidied ready for the next arrival.
We were very welcome and will definitely visit again.
Disliked Whilst we could connect to WiFi, we found it didn't actually work very well. But it wasn't really a problem for us.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked The site is great. Big and flat, ground isnt too hard, loads of places to pitch. Excellent access to the river which was shallow enough for our 5 year old to paddle and swim in. But also deep enough for kayaks boats and boards.
Our kid loved climbing the trees and riding his bike round the site (carefully and respectfully of other people)
Perfect site to switch off and relax if you're looking for basic off grid.
Everyone was really respectful of the rules, particularly quiet time at night.
Great access to towns entertainment and activities and also local and cultural activities.
Disliked Access to the site: the road is quite narrow and the gate is right on the road side. There is a blind corner 1 side and cars came quickly. Had to stop in the road to open and close gate. I definitely found my bravery when managing the gates solo.
Toilets: were super unreliable for the quantity of campers (particularly the Saturday night) toilets were frequently blocked, although the site did their best to deal with it promptly.

From the manager: Thanks Laura, I'm glad you had a nice time, we are upgrading our toilets at the moment so they run better, unfortunately as an off-grid site it's hard to offer proper flushing toilets, most use composting toilets which I'm not a fan of, luckily my friend is a plumber and so we're on a mission to upgrade again! Thanks Again

Disliked Quarry noise was awful and went on all night (or so it seemed) which was very disruptive otherwise its an almost perfect site.

Powered grass tent or RV campsite
Liked The facilities were impeccable. Clean and modern shower and toilets. Use of fridge and freezer. Spacious pitches. The owners were very nice and friendly and provided lots of information about the local area and amenities available close by.
Disliked No on site shop and did not find a shop close by without needing to drive. This is a very minor grumble for us. Honestly very little to dislike as the site suited our needs.

From the manager: Hi Laura, We do appreciate your comments. We are a traditional campsite with a "remote" location. The majority of campers love it here and don't want us to change a thing. They love the peacefullness and tranquility. We do not have wi-fi or a shop, so we do not advertise it. 98% of our campers do research before they book on-line and they are prepared with their provisions. As you aware we have a shop within a 5 minute drive. There are also pubs close by. In the future when choosing a site, it might be an idea to do research first so that your stay is a more pleasant one. Thank you for staying with us :) Jackie & Glyn
