Power optional cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite
Liked Good size hardstanding pitch. Managed to squeeze two campers on as the grass pitch for my friend was too saturated. Nice setting with view over the lake. Toilet block functional but a little dilapidated. Large shower room with plenty of hot water, not on a timer. Only the one though so would imagine this gets busy in peak season. Good price for pitch but didn't use EHU which is metered.
15 min walk into village and White Hart is great for food and drink.

Liked Lovely small site. Good shower (50p for 7 mins which is plenty). Ordered breakfast provisions (eggs, sausages and rolls) which were very good. Friendly owners. The Rumburgh Buck (10 min walk) is very good for both food and drink.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review us. We're glad you enjoyed your breakfast provisions and found the showers good. The pub is great - an extremely friendly, traditional, local pub, so it's great to have it walking distance from the campsite.

Liked Quiet and pristine site. Everything was immaculate. Great showers and facilities. Pitch 14 was spacious and next to a small garden. The on site bar and restaurant served wholesome food which was good value. Wide range of drinks too. Good location for coast and Simonside Hills.

Liked Friendly, good showers, nice walk into city, large pitch with 10a electric, boulangerie on site each morning, very cheap only £15 per night (camper van and 2 adults).
Nice looking restaurant a couple of minutes walk from site. Didn't try it but looked good.
Disliked There was toilet roll provided but the dispenser was outside the stalls. Had to remember or take your own!

Power optional grass RV campsite
Liked Amazing views, beach, friendly staff, showers good especially the end ones (male), nice cafe, and wifi.
Did a walk to the nearest village, Pendueles, and beyond to a lovely cove, good little shop in village.
Disliked We were on a narrow row of camper vans with little room either side of the van. Couldn't put awning out as would have blocked other vans from getting in and out. Other pitches higher up looked fine.
It was a very steep walk to the shower/toilet block which could be an issue for the less able.

Liked Everything was pretty much perfect! Excellent wardens, nice welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Good sized gravel pitches, large enough to pitch our camper van awning, plus a grass area to sit out on. Very good wifi. Good showers, very clean throughout. Lovely view from back field pitches. Excellent pub/restaurant at end of site driveway. Great location for exploring Exmoor.

Liked Nice view from the touring pitches. There are many seasonal pitches but not many were occupied at this time of year. Great shower/toilet block. Underfloor heating and timers for showers nice and long. Free Wi-Fi was excellent and was able to stream video on laptop. Nice welcome and reasonable price. Pub and Tesco Express within 15 min walk.

Liked Well kept, spacious site. Good communication and welcome. Good sized gravel pitch for our camper van which you could pitch an awning onto. It had been very wet prior to our stay so getting off proved tricky. However, owner was very helpful and towed us off with his van.
Disliked There are only two toilets and one shower for the whole site. Wasn't an issue this time as only three pitches occupied.
Only cold water at the washing up station.
The electricity supply is 5 amps so we could not use some of our equipment (grill). Was provided with a useful information sheet showing the different amps required by various electrical appliances.

From the manager: Thank you for your review we are pleased in general you were happy with the site. We are a cl site so only occupy 5 pitches at a time, the facilities are more than adequate and actually not even a requirement. Many people have good on board facilities of their own so we really are mainly catering for the smaller vehicles which are a minority. We do hope that the things you mention and the inclement conditions over the Easter weekend would not deter you from returning. Kind regards Heather and Gee

Lower Meadow primitive grass tent or RV campsite
Liked Nice location, good signage and site layout. Toilet and shower block good. Easy check in.
Disliked Check in was not until 14.00 which is unusually late for a camp site. Early check was chargeable but only for a two or more night stay with no flexibility on this. I was only staying one night. I was the only person in the site and no staff were present at all either. So I don't get why I couldn't check in earlier!
There isn't any heating in the shower block so while the shower was great it was freezing once out of it. Naturally it is difficult to justify heating this building, especially for one client, but the site is open all year and so perhaps some temporary heating would be welcomed.

From the manager: Thanks for your review Its disappointing to hear that your were not happy with the early check in rule as we discussed this on the phone several days before your booking which you chose to go ahead with. The charge is due to parking restrictions within the country park. The £5 covers longer parking and use of the facilities which we feel is very reasonable - It is not viable for us to add this on for a 1 night stay for 1 person (£12.50) im afraid as leaves us with very little to cover costs - the early check in fee is paid back to the counrty park by us to manage the car parks and walking trails etc Both of our familiy/accesible rooms at either end of the facilities block are heated and the heating was operational during your stay - if you used the larger block this is not heated in the winter months when the campsite is very quiet so will of course feel colder in Feb. staff are available 24 hours by phone (advertised in reception) for these staying on site and any issues like this can be rectified with a quick phone call. Despite these things we are glad to hear you overall enjoyed the site

Liked Well maintained and spacious site. Friendly welcome. Excellent toilet and shower block, lovely and warm and showers great. As was the washing up room. Very good free wifi, strong and consistent. 10 min walk into town, several places to eat and drink. Good price for what is included (electric, wifi, showers)
Disliked There is a bit of noise from the A47 but it wasn't an issue in our camper vans (with the roof down). It would be more noticeable in a tent but there isn't much traffic overnight.
