Don't book 'boogie cabins; if you like peace and quite in the evening08/26/2019

We used the site as a base for exploring the region. And it was great in that sense. We went to Lisbon twice (drove to the train station, left the car at the car park there and took a train to Lisbon, leaves every 20 mins). We also drove to Sinta twice. The camp site is close to the beach - you just need to walk though sand dunes (there are wooden walkways as some areas are protected). We also enjoyed the swimming pool. Facilities were clean even though a bit dated. We liked the child friendly bathrooms - with a small bath and more space than in the 'adult' shower - they were located in both female and male facilities.

    Disliked:

We disliked our location on the campsite. We booked what they can a 'boogie cabin'. They only have 4 of them and they are all cramped into a plot very close to the main entrance to the camp site, next to the play ground and next to the restaurant. There was live entertainment at the restaurant every night... Had we travelled as a couple, we would have enjoyed it probably. But as we travelled with 2 young children, it was a nightmare getting them to sleep. Especially on the night when they had a band playing rock covers. It was like getting kids to bed in the middle of a rock concert. The staff at the reception promised the concert would end at 11pm sharp but it continued on till 11:20pm. So, if you travel with young kids and they usually go to bed before 11:20pm, don't book those cabins. I'm not sure why there was no information about the location of these cabins at the time of booking.

Big site with allocated pitches amongst lovely trees07/10/2019

A good size sand pitch was allocated to us with electric and water. Entertainment was on every evening, bands and kareoke until 11.15pm. Good size pool, although it was quite cold. Location was 30 mins to Sintra 13 euros by Uber and 15/20 minutes to Cascais - We used Ubers all the time.

    Disliked:

The sand pitch wasn't even and our hired motorhome didn't have levelling ramps. Toilet and shower blocks were pretty standard, lacking luxury!

    - no temp control on showers and they were scalding hot
    - shop fairly useless apart from fresh bread
    - bar set up unwelcoming
    - had to use an Uber to get anywhere as the staff advised not to take our vehicle to Sintra and the bus was advised against also due to it being long winded and complicated

It is not nice not to tell the truth. The reservation you made was one thing. Your check-in was something different and you had to pay for the difference and that was all. Thank you for your visit.

    Disliked:

State of toilets, showers, etc. This was the most expensive site I stayed on during 2 weeks of touring Portugal and it was the worst. I do not know what the owners spend their money on. It certainly isn’t the upkeep of the camping site. It is all very old, except for the very modern reception which gives a very false impression of what lies within the site

From the manager...

We take your comments very seriously and our quality department as well the operational manager will be informed about them. We’ll be looking forward to hearing more from you.

Local attractions

Parque Orbitur Guincho's setting near Cascais, Estoril and Sintra is a smashing part of Portugal, nicknamed the Portuguese Riviera for its long lengths of beaches, sunny skies and clear blue waters. Well known for its surfing and windsurfing, local beach Guincho is a regular host for watersports events including the Portuguese National Surfing and BodyBoarding Championships.

Among the many other options nearby are trips around the small villages of the region like Areia, Charneca, Figueira do Guincho and Biscaia; exploring Cabo de Roca and the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, and hiking and wildlife watching among the Sintra mountain range, running for just over 16 kilometres from Sintra to Cabo da Roca.

And then there's first-rate Lisbon, one of the oldest cities in the world and the oldest in western Europe. Several days here are recommended if you can manage it, for world-famed attractions like the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery, the downtown district of Pombaline Baixa, the Moorish Castle of São Jorge, and a few dozen museums including the National Museum of Ancient Art and the Roman Theatre Museum.
