An Amsterdam break… but without the noise, crowds and expense that come with city centre stays? If that sounds like quite the combo, take a look at EuroParcs Het Amsterdamse Bos, a peaceful North Holland site surrounded by woodland, canals and open spaces in the 900-hectare Amsterdam Forest, 10 minutes’ drive from Amstelveen. Although you might not guess it from the gorgeous green surrounds (which lend themselves well to strolls, swims, bike rides and canoe trips), the site is just eight kilometres from Amsterdam’s city centre. Arguably the best way to get there (and to blend in with the locals) is to hire bikes on site and pedal off along a cycle lane through the Vondelpark to the city’s central attractions in around half an hour or so. For those who prefer to save their muscle power for meandering around museums, it’s also easy to ride into the centre via public transport – a bus stop is just outside the site, and there’s a metro station within walking distance as well. Handily, there’s also a direct bus to Schiphol airport (around 20 minutes away) for easy getaways by air or connecting with trains to other Dutch cities. And there’s no need to put an early curfew on proceedings either – night owls can party in town until late, as public transport runs through to the small hours. Back at base, lots of essential facilities are sorted, including a shop, a launderette and a self-catering kitchen with dining room; there’s also a spacious bathroom block with plenty of toilets and showers.

Liked Really lovely little campsite surrounded by trees and water.
Good things for the kids, playground, jumping pillow and go karts you can rent for a very reasonable price.
Great location, close to the city of Amsterdam and Zandvoorst beach.
We stayed in one of the safari glamping tents which was very comfortable, spacious and clean.
Staff were really lovely and helpful, clear communication and instructions for late check ins and early check outs.

Disliked The onsite shop doesn’t have much and what is there is expensive, we shopped at local supermarkets instead.

Liked J’ai vraiment apprécié mon séjour à Europarc près d’Amsterdam. Ce que j’ai aimé : l’emplacement sur herbe très agréable, la propreté des lieux, le cadre verdoyant et la proximité avec Amsterdam. J’ai aussi adoré la petite épicerie avec ses viennoiseries le matin, ainsi que le service de pizzeria disponible. De plus, le Wi-Fi gratuit et l’électricité sur place sont très pratiques. Mention spéciale pour la sympathie des employés et des hôtesses d’accueil, et la fluidité du check-in et du check-out, c’était vraiment très agréable. En résumé, une excellente expérience avec de nombreux points positifs !

Liked Het feit dat we terecht konden. Snelle service bij de receptie. Mooie ruime plek.
Sanitair ruim, schoon, voldoende toiletten, douches.
Wij hadden geen kleine kinderen, maar daar zijn voldoende speelplekken voor.
Overal picknick banken.
Wij waren zeer positief verrast. En dit midden in de natuur, vlakbij Amsterdam.
Fantastisch.

Disliked Kunnen jullie niets aan doen, maar slechte openbaar vervoer verbinding naar centrum amsterdam.

Liked Good ambience and surrounding. Shop on site amd food.

Disliked Had to pay for electric which I didn't expect to pay
But never the leds wasn't expensive for 2 nights only 6 euros. The location is misleading as it says its 30 mins from Amsterdam city which isn't the case. You can bike 45 mins ot take a taxi which costs around 70 euros for 5 people one way which is around 40 english pounds. We got a discount which reduced it but never the less still expensive one way. The staff mediocre. Didn't feel that welcome vibe

Liked The pitch had a great view of the water and the facilities on-site were good. It had a lovely atmosphere as well and the surrounding forest was good for bike riding

Disliked The showers in one block were cold on the morning we left, though I tried the other block and that one did have hot water.
Public transport to the centre of Amsterdam was not great so we ended up getting an Uber in.

Disliked I dont like it . No frendly staff , no restaurant open all day or bar to drink something . One small chiosco just to do sandwiches for few hour in the evening. Boring camping and noise. There is anything to do. No clean.

Well, depending on your interests, there’s (deep breath…) the Rijksmuseum, the Rembrandt Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House, the Heineken Experience, canal boat trips, Amsterdam Zoo, the houseboat museum – plus of course stacks of cafés, bars and clubs… best be planning several days (and nights) to take it all in. As enticing as it is, Amsterdam’s not the only attraction around these parts. Those seeking to tick off classic Dutch sights should aim for the Aalsmeer flower auction (10 minutes’ drive), snap windmill pics in Zaanse Schans (15 minutes) and take a tasty trip to the Alkmaar cheese market (35 minutes). If it’s time for a few breaths of sea air, venture to the fishing village of Volendam (35 minutes) to eat by the harbour while locals wander about in traditional dress, or head west to Zandvoort (25 minutes) for beach days, strolls in the sand dunes or watersports including paddleboarding and kitesurfing.
