A beautiful site with tent pitches right next to the crystal clear lake. Very friendly site staff who gave us multiple pitch options to choose from.
Nice little shop on site and snack bar that we visited each evening for food and drink.
Toilet and shower facilities were clean and functional.
We only stayed 2 nights as were passing through Germany but would definitely return.

    Disliked:

Couldn't park the car next to the tent.

Our spot was overlooking picturesque Pilsensee lake surrounded by forest on one side and a village on the other side with a red train slicing through it in a distance.
It was a fantastic feeling to be surrounded by locals or native Germans and fully accepted by them : we greeted each other with a smile and "Morgen" early in the morning, we chatted with friendly mother, Olivia who stayed in a tent nearby with her two girls and other friends, we felt safe and welcome.
We've survived a spectacular thunderstorm !!! Yes! In a little tent, just like that, dry inside. And in the morning puddles of rain evaporated instantly and another 35 Celsius Degree summer day began like nothing ever happened.
SEEHAUS restaurant is located by the water too, with a wide collection of beers, of course, wines and delicious traditional Bavarian food.
All very relaxing. Busy, but not overcrowded. Clean and respectful space. Highly recommended.

    Disliked:

The shop should have a wider selection of assortment and it should sell hot water without any problems to campers as there was no kitchen facility on a site. Or access to the cattle in a washing area would be nice, something simple.
Self-help beer vending machines accepted only German IDs and that is a fact as we've tried Swedish and Polish options with no luck, but hey, friendly local, Gerhard helped us and had a schnapps with us!!!

The atmosphere of the campsite and the people there and the lake was beautiful and lovely to swim in

    Disliked:

The dirty shower/toilets and the lack of! The car had to be parked a distance from the pitch. The wifi wasn't good either. Only get 30mins free a day and there is no normal signal their so having wifi was needed! Lack of staff while checking in and didn't get a proper run down of where everything was. We didn't discover things that would have been useful until the last minute

Excellent situation with friendly staff but facilities weren't good 05/06/2017

The situation of the site was excellent alonside the water and it was worth the extra nightly cost to have the waterside pitch. Staff were really helpful.

    Disliked:

The site is spread over a large area and due to weather damage the nearest toilets were not in action and they wouldn't have had showers anyway. This meant a walk up to the reception area where the just too few showers for that size of site nad it was lucky that everybody either staggered theirs or had a shower in their caravan. To give them their due they are building two new sanitary blocks which may solve the problem but these should have been ready for the start of the season especially as we were charged a higher rate from 01.05.17.
The only other niggle was the entrance which should have a sign at the top as we went past it twice before realising that there was a campsite down it.

Local attractions

On Lake Pilsensee's eastern shore, nearby Seefeld Castle is a bit unusual for a thirteenth century building, as it comes these days with a widescreen cinema, restaurants and a variety of shops, all within the walls. A Bavarian delicatetessan is here too, and a beer garden is next to the castle fountain: we highly recommend a glass or two of foamy Toerring.

Swimming, watersports, climbing and cycling are all available locally, and if you're up for a forest hike, walk through the woods to Herrsching five kilometres away or to Andechs Monastery, a famed site of Bavrian pilgrimage, within ten. The Andechs area is famed for its beer too and there are six to try if you're thirsty after your hike.

The other four lakes of the Five Lakes Region are Wörthsee, Wesslinger See and the two bigger lakes Ammersee and Lake Starnberg: Lake Ammersee is the closest lake to Camping am Pilsensee where you can have a boat cruise.

And you must have a day in Bavaria's capital Munich too... The closest station to Camping am Pilsensee is about 1.5km away: get an early morning train to have full days among the Deutsches Museum, one of the oldest science museums in the world, the art galleries of the Kunstareal, the Bavarian State Opera and Bavarian State Orchestra at the Nationaltheater, music in the streets around Marienplatz, and of course, the Hofbräuhaus am Platzl beer hall and Oktoberfest.
