It's free, quick and easy!
- Welcoming park with wine tasting on site
- Heated pool, waterslide, daily activities, sports and theme nights
- In the Beaujolais wine area and 30 minutes' drive from Lyon
If a campsite is in the Beaujolais wine area, what a corking idea it is to offer tasting of its vinos right on site.
This is what cleverly happens at Camping Les Portes du Beaujolais in Anse, where Valerie and her knowledgeable team have added a selection of local wines for tasting to the comfy and welcoming reception area. (You should of course later venture into the French countryside to find more local brews of your very own.)
Other options to while away the hours at Camping Les Portes du Beaujolais are splashing around in the private pool (heated, covered and with waterslide) or in the swimming lake, or getting stuck into one of the many sporting activities like football, volleyball, table tennis or pétanque; kids have a paddling pool, indoor playroom and outdoor playground. Creative and sports activities are run by staff daily in July and August and theme evenings and other events by night.
The site also has a snack-restaurant and sells essentials like fresh bread, groceries and local produce in its shop. The swimming lake is available for fishing too, with more angling locally at the Saône and Azergues rivers.

Local attractions
As might have been mentioned, Camping Les Portes du Beaujolais is in the Beaujolais wine area, between the south of Burgundy and the north of the Côtes du Rhone and best known for its Le Beaujolais Nouveau. Ten vineyards are on the Beaujolais wine route to visit, spread between Mâcon and Lyon adjoining the hills of the Beaujolais; take time to see the area's Middle Ages châteaux like the Château de Montmelas too.
The UNESCO World Heritage City of Lyon 30 minutes' drive away has days' worth of old buildings to see, including the hilltop Roman amphitheatre and the Fourvière church.
This is a foodie city too and probably the best known gastronomy centres in France, with many bouchon restaurants serving Lyonnaise cuisine like roast pork, duck pâté and sausages.
