It's free, quick and easy!
- Quiet family site five kilometres from Baraize
- Spectacular riverside setting: hire canoes or kayaks on site
- Bar, shop and restaurant serving local dishes
It's near a natural park, so it's a cert there's a right pile of natural attractions and heady activities around Camping de Montcocu in the Indre department of France's Centre region.
Six forests and a fine lake are within 15 kilometres of here, for outdoorsy activities such as hiking and mountain biking, sailing and climbing – and you won't have far to wander to get out onto water either, as the site is on the banks of a river and has canoes and kayaks for hire.
About five kilometres from Baraize, Camping de Montcocu is within easy driving distance of the Brenne Regional Nature Park, a land of over 2,000 lakes and ponds making up a birdwatching haven. The serene river setting of the site is tiptop for fishing as well as waterside strolls and bike rides: have a look at the pics to see the scenery among which you'll be settling down.
Facilities on site include a restaurant serving local dishes (and scenic views), a bar, a playground and a pétanque court. A grocery shop sells essentials; local town Baraize has a newsagent, a bar and a café.

Local attractions
From Baraize, access the Val de Creuse hiking path, crisscrossing the countryside for 110 kilometres from Saint-Plantaire to Crozant. Baraize is towards the end of the trail, near Crozant: get there via the town, handsome lake and waterski centre of Éguzon-Chantome.
For more hiking, several forests are just inside the Brenne Regional Natural Park a little way west of the site. But the main pull of the 166,000-hectare park is nature spotting: migratory birds stop off around its lakes and marshes, and Brenne is home to a whopping 2,300+ animal and bird species. Information points and trails are at Rosnay and Saint-Michel-en-Brenne.
Windsailing, canoeing, boating, waterskiing, pedalos, swimming, rowing and fishing among scenic surroundings are all at Éguzon lake, seven kilometres from Baraize.
