  • Small and peaceful Carmarthenshire five minutes' drive from Pencader
  • Brechfa Forest 10 minutes' drive; 35 minutes to the coast
  • Dog-friendly site with easy access from the A485
If you’re dreaming of a peaceful place to stay surrounded by some stunning scenery… well, Field of Dreams Wales could be the place to make it all come true. This sweet little site is tucked away in the Carmarthenshire hills about two miles from the village of Pencader, and it centres around a 2,5-acre camping field where guest numbers are kept low to ensure everyone has plenty of peace and space to relax. Dogs are welcome to join you for stays here too. This is a thoroughly rural location, with a lake on site and gorgeous country views all around, but it’s easy to get to as the A485 passes close by. And while you’re no doubt here to soak up the serenity that comes from being well away from everyday life, it’s handy to know that you’re still within a few minutes’ drive of a convenience store, a bakery and a fish and chip shop in the village. In fact this is a great location for quiet nights interspersed with days out – both Cardigan bay (to the north) and Carmarthen Bay (to the south) are within 40 minutes’ drive, and there’s also much to explore at the likes of Brechfa Forest and the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Back at base, the facilities have been designed by site owners who’ve done many camping and glamping trips themselves and therefore have a good idea of what guests want. That means the cheerful, spacious bathroom block has separate ladies’ and gents’ toilets, and there’s also a shared firepit with cooking tripod (and a washing-up area to help you deal with your dishes).

Liked The site was easy to find and pitches are well maintained

Disliked We only stayed for one night as both times I used the shower with my toddler, the hosts strategy was to wait outside the women’s shower facility and upon stepping out of the showers he would go in and inspect them and confront me with hostility about the amount of water running out of the shower room. The second time I used the shower he questioned me about the number of times I used the showers, so I had to justify this by explaining that my toddler urinated herself at night time. I felt harassed and unsafe in this campsite. When people say the facilities are so clean, the reason is that host is patrolling them and monitoring peoples movements day and night.

From the manager:
To set the record straight, your comments are neither accurate nor fair. On your first night with us you completely flooded our toilet and shower block with a river of water running out of the front door. This posed a significant risk of guests slipping and getting injured as it was so late at night.

We explained to you and your partner (you were not a lone female as you portray) outside of the shower / toilet block that this was not acceptable due to the safety risk it posed to other guests. I gave you both a written warning not to do it again, yet you still flooded the toilet block again the following morning, and consequently I asked you to leave on site safety grounds.

I did not stalk you, nor was I outside your shower as all the cubicles are locked and inside the back of the toilet block so you are exaggerating the facts to your own advantage. The safety of all our guests is paramount and anybody causing unacceptable risks to guest safety will always be asked to leave.

Excellent site of which we would recommend, who's owners went beyond.

Liked Excellent site. Welcoming. I felt safe as a lone traveller from start to finish. Clean facilities. Care and attention to detail. Fridge and freezer available and many other useful things when on the move from place to place. Great pub recommendation as I wanted a break from preparing a meal.

Liked Amazing place, so peaceful and tranquil. Fabulous facilities and spotlessly clean. John was so helpful and friendly, advising us of where to go. Honey (our dog) had the best time exploring the field and saying hello to everyone that walked past our tent. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

Powered grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Great campsite with excellent facilities. We were only staying for a couple of nights but the large communal fridge was a great addition.
It was unfortunately awful weather during our visit but the outside cooking area would be great during the summer.

The toilet and shower facilities were immaculate.

Surroundings were lovely, including Billy the duck and the hosts could not have been more accommodating, even fetching an electric hookup extension for us. Would recommend!

Liked We had the most amazing stay here!
The friendliest and most accommodating hosts, and made our 4 year old son feel so special.
The showers and toilets were 10/10, so clean.
Such a beautiful location, waking up to the birds and the sheep was the best. As was the sunset, we loved sitting outside, with a drink, watching the beautiful sunset.
There were lovely walks, and beaches a short drive away, and the hosts were very knowledgeable on the best places to go.

Thank you for the best stay. We'll definitely be back!
