  • Sea-view pitches on a private estate on the north coast of Anglesey
  • Five minutes’ drive to Porth Trwyn beach; Holyhead 20 minutes
  • Near the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path; half an hour's walk from pubs
Set in the woodland of a private 17th-century estate, Seren-y-Mor (meaning 'Star of the Sea') is a family-run campsite on the north coast of the Isle of Anglesey. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from the beach for family fun days and also close to the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path for coastal yomps. Bring your own barbecues, camping stoves and firepits (pick up groceries in Holyhead, 20 minutes’ drive). A couple of pubs are a half hour’s walk away if alfresco cooking isn’t how you want to spend your holiday. The pub and café in Church Bay should be some splendid picks for eating out – they're a five-minute drive away, or just over an hour's walk. Pop-up food stands also visit the site during high season. Seren-y-Mor is an eco campsite with composting toilets and hot showers.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This place is just amazing, So much space, compost toilets which I would take over a porta-loo any day of the week. The showers were decent with Hot water. Even though the site looked fairly busy tent wise we didn't have to wait to use anything.
There is a beech a short walk away which we went down to for sunset which was 100% worth it. Would happily stay here again.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Absolutely lovely site. It’s very eco friendly with compost toilets and showers made from IBCs with plenty of hot water and very clean. We stayed on a bank holiday and there was plenty of room as they only let a small number on there at a time. Huge fields surrounded by woods, and can see the sea from the higher ground. There is a beach, pub, food van ( amazing burritos) and restaurant about 20/30 mins walk through the fields but only 5 mins by car at Church Bay.

Disliked We camped a bit too close to the toilets and the doors have pulleys on them so they shut themselves which bang especially with the kids in and out but other than that there’s absolutely nothing to dislike here.

Liked Nice and spacious, compost toilets are so much better than portaloos! Really beautiful woodland and surrounding beaches too and Nina was very helpful.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Size of fields and pitches, peace and quiet (mostly), general position and surroundings, eco principles

Disliked Compost loos in very windy conditions (like baring your bum in a wind tunnel!), lack of small basins for washing hands and face or strip wash, and teeth brushing (shouldn't have to use same sink as for washing up, not hygienic), lack of cover for sinks in bad weather, lack of daily cleaning of facilities, as far as I could tell.

One party in next field was playing loud music one morning. I went out so didn't bother me, but campers should be told this is not acceptable.

From the manager: Thank you for your constructive feedback, we plan to upgrade the sinks and add more for the coming Summer season. We have one at each toilet block currently.
We clean the facilities daily, and walk the site. Im so sorry about the noise from a group, I did come to speak to them when I heard it, I think they were having too much fun in the sunshine and didnt quite realise the volume. So glad it didnt bother you too much.
Hopefully host you again soonx

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Booked because our usual site was full and I'm glad it was as we got to try out Seren-y-Mor! The site is very spacious allowing for ample room between campers. Lovely views over the sea towards Church Bay. Compost toilets were very clean as were the showers. Hot water and a good pressure. Always a welcome treat when camping for 2 nights! Plenty of beaches around 10 mins drive away. All in for £40 is fantastic. It's good to see some sites keeping the prices reasonable for the facilities they offer. Great site!

Liked Everything! There's a reason I've been coming back a few times a year ever since it opened. Spacious pitches in the most beautiful area, Sea and sunset views, quiet and secluded; toilets are kept clean and the showers are lovely and hot. The management are lovely, welcoming and respond quickly, can't fault them!

Once you enter the estate, you will cross over two cattle grids. After crossing the second cattle grid, there is a left-hand turning marked 'CAMPING'. Follow the signs on the track through two fields. The final field is the camping field, where the toilets are directly ahead of you. Please pitch up in these fields along the hedge or the treeline, where it is sheltered, leaving eight metres between your pitch and other guests. What3words: clip.relief.abode.

Local attractions

You can learn all about Amlwch and its 18th-century transition from fishing village to copper mining town at the Copper Kingdom Centre (25 minutes’ drive). After checking out the displays, stroll along the colourful trails lacing Parys Mountain, which was once home to the world’s largest copper mine. Step into a tropical environment at Pili Palas Nature World (half an hour). Here you can marvel at butterflies and moths flying all around you in the butterfly house, watch meerkats being fed and meet colourful macaws and cockatoos. There are also exotic spiders and lizards, and (if creepy-crawlies aren’t your thing) fluffy rabbits and inquisitive miniature goats. Sitting on the Menai Strait, Plas Newydd House and Gardens (35 minutes) is an 18th-century mansion with gardens bursting with vibrant hydrangeas and rhododendrons. It’s worth popping inside too, to catch a glimpse of a gigantic mural (measuring 17.5 metres) by Rex Whistler depicting an idealised view from the building.
