  • Peaceful tourer site with Irish Sea views on a Gwynedd working farm
  • Five minutes’ drive from the Welsh Coast Path and Porth Towyn beach
  • Well-maintained grass site with shops and a pub in five minutes’ drive
Sitting on a working farm with spectacular views over the northern coastline of the Llŷn Peninsula – you can spy Anglesey and the mountains of North Wales on the horizon – Gwynedd’s Pwllgoed Caravan Site is a top spot for anyone looking for jaunts along the Wales Coast Path or wanting to run around on sandy beaches. Cyclists and walkers will be pleased to read that Pwllgoed is surrounded by quiet country lanes with wide verges, making them safe for family rambles and bike rides. The nearest sandy beach is Porth Towyn (five minutes’ drive), and if you’re super lucky and super quiet when you visit, there’s a good chance of spotting seals and dolphins playing in the waves. From there you can also access the Llŷn Coastal Path (part of the Wales Coast Path). The nearest essentials store is in the village of Tudweiliog (five minutes), and if you’re after a break from cooking, it’s also got a friendly family pub. Back at base camp, guests are in pole position for smashing sunsets over the Irish Sea on clear nights, and you’ll easily spot South Stack lighthouse on Anglesey after dusk. There are just a few touring pitches spread over a one-acre camping field, each with access to electric hook-ups, water taps, a washing-up area and recycling, as well as a toilet and shower block with a large family-sized shower room. Dogs are welcome, but please keep them under control as livestock grazes in the surrounding fields. They should be on a lead at all times when on site, and exercised away from the pitches.

Powered cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Very quiet and by far the most cleanest facilities I've ever seen at a campsite! The showers were hot and immaculate. The tap had fresh spring water which tasted amazing, host was very friendly. Pitches were huge and level. Would definetly go back.

Disliked Only option for my campervan was an electric hook-up pitch and didn't need electric and some campsites have non-electric pitches a bit cheaper but the site was so good that I didn't go away feeling short changed.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked This site was amazing. We were looking for a quiet overnight stop with showers and toilets, nothing more. We were met by the host when we arrived which was lovely.
The showers, toilets and washing up facilities were by far the best we’ve ever used. They were clinically clean and like they had just been installed.
The views from the site were far reaching and the local beach was stunning. 100% recommended

Disliked Absolutely nothing to dislike

Powered grass travel trailer, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great little campsite with beautiful views. The 2 toilets and 2 showers were always immaculate.
There was a lovely welcome from the owner when we arrived as well.

Disliked This could be a positive or a negative depending on your views but the phone reception for Vodafone and O2 are poor on the site, EE is fine though.

Local attractions

Head south to Porth Neigwl (25 minutes’ drive), a vast crescent of sand and pebbles with spectacular sunset views. At the westernmost end of the beach, National Trust - Plas yn Rhiw is a pretty 17th-century house with an orchard and a cottage garden overlooking the sea. In Porthmadog (40 minutes), the artefacts on display at the Maritime Museum explore the seafaring heritage of this town, a former shipbuilding hub. It’s also possible to catch a vintage ride on a steam train along the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways; or take a drive to Black Rock Sands, a wide beach on Cardigan Bay. Cross the Menai Strait and head into the Isle of Anglesey (an hour), where you can admire one of Britain’s largest murals at National Trust - Plas Newydd House and Gardens, visit the Butterfly House at Pili Palas Nature World, or go back to Neolithic times at the Bryn Celli Ddu Burial Chamber.
