  • Llŷn Peninsula site 20 minutes’ drive from Eryri (Snowdonia)
  • A 20-minute drive to Abersoch, and five minutes from Pwllheli
  • The Peg and Mallet pub, laundry room and on-site fishing lake
With spacious pitches spread over three fields, family-run Llwyn Ffynnon Caravan Park sits in hilly countryside on north Wales’s Llŷn Peninsula. There’s pretty much everything on tap here for relaxed, open-air getaways with the kids. All pitches have a 10-amp electric hook-ups and running water nearby, and the whole site has unlimited wifi so teens can stay in touch with their pals. Other thoughtful, family-oriented amenities include heated shower and loo blocks with baby-changing facilities, plus a laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink. There are firepits for guests to use on site (if they're available at the time; ask in advance), and kindling is also available for a charge. If you fancy a sociable evening getting to know your fellow campers, head for the dartboard and pool table in the on-site Peg and Mallet pub. There are plenty of well-kept local ales and beers to sample here, as well as more than 30 gins… Anglers, this is also a super spot for you. Watched over by Mr Ducky the heron, the on-site coarse fishing lake is stocked with carp, tench, bream, rudd and brown trout; an additional charge applies for fishing, and it's also catch-and-release only. The town of Pwllheli is a five-minute drive away for bits and bobs from local stores, plus handy takeaways and family-friendly pubs. It’s around 20 minutes to farmers’ markets in posh seafront Abersoch, and 20 minutes to spectacular scenery in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

Liked Beautiful site with the most amazing fish pond and wildlife.
Trevor the sure Manager was amazing and so eager to help and make our stay enjoyable. Trevor set up the chairs in the pond area so we could enjoy the newly hatched more hen chick. You could literally sit and read your book there for hours. So peaceful. ☺️
We stayed Saturday and Sunday - a big fire is lit outside the pub. It’s a great atmosphere and made the stay memorable.
Chickens roaming which were so gorgeous.
Really lovely peaceful site with excellent facilities. Toilets and showers always smelt clean. Very spacious.

Disliked Felt a bit crammed in, could hear the neighbours snoring early hours.
But wasn’t a massive problem.

Liked Wow we were greeted as we arrived and shown where our pitch was, not just given a map. The site was clean so to were the toilets and showers. There is a lovely pup and evening food hut. Nothing seems too much trouble. Lovely weekend

Local attractions

Should you ever want to leave base camp, seaside Pwllheli (five minutes’ drive) is the place for boat-mad folk. Here’s your chance to learn to sail a dinghy in Cardigan Bay, or take coastal cruises to spot seals, dolphins and seabirds. Back on dry land, kids can burn off energy in Dragon Raiders Paintball Park (15 minutes) or beat their personal best on go-karts at Glasfryn Parc (10 minutes). Adrenaline junkies, head to Blaenau Ffestiniog (45 minutes) to zoom over former slate mines by zip line, or test your nerve on via ferrata and seriously fast downhill mountain biking trails. If hiking is more your thing, Snowdonia National Park (20 minutes) has plenty of challenging trails, as well as easier routes suitable for all the family. For gentler pursuits, you can summit Snowdon in comfort on the Snowdon Mountain Railway (45 minutes). Or down on the coast, pretend you’re in a murder-mystery film at Italianate-style Portmeirion village (35 minutes), whose colourful streets and buildings once starred in 1960s cult classic ‘The Prisoner’.
