  • Peaceful, dog-friendly Llŷn Peninsula site with sea and mountain views
  • A 15-minute drive from Abersoch and Aberdaron, with mountains nearby
  • Pubs, shops and a petrol station within walking distance of the site
Sea and mountain views? Check. Easy access to Llŷn Peninsula seaside havens? Check. A peaceful atmosphere for your chilled-out, pet-friendly breaks. Check, again. Well-maintained and family-oriented Cellar Farm Caravan and Camping is looking like an excellent candidate for all sorts of outdoor breaks. So, where exactly is it? The peaceful village of Botwnnog is just 15 minutes’ drive away from Abersoch (a fishing port with a sandy beach and sailing activities) and Aberdaron (just as pretty of a village on the seafront). Since you’ll be landing in a prime spot on the Llŷn Peninsula, expect to be well-based for roaming over the coastal path that runs the whole length of the peninsula. There are beaches, pubs, restaurants and stunning views all around the peninsula, as well as mountains for the keen hikers who like to set themselves a steep challenge. Keep your tank (and your car’s tank) topped up at the petrol station, two shops and two pubs within 40 minutes’ walk of the site – sourcing tasty food should be pips in the pubs. On site, there’s drinking water available, along with a toilet block. The field’s split into two, with one side reserved for guests and the other occupied by the site’s sheep and cattle (who like to say hello when they get the chance).

Local attractions

With the peaceful slopes of the Llŷn Peninsula so close by, the trickiest part is narrowing down which mountains to tackle first. Will it be Carn Fadryn (10 minutes’ drive), named after the five-hectare Iron Age hillfort that takes prime spot on the peak? Mynydd Rhiw (20 minutes), 304 metres high and home to a prehistoric axe factory which was discovered back in 1950s mid gorse burning? Uwchmynydd (20 minutes), which has views over wild coastline? Yr Eifl (35 minutes) is a cluster of hills with views as far as the Lake District and the Isle of Man. The sea’s another setting that must feature in your getaway, and just one glance at a picture of the Trefor Sea Stacks (40 minutes) or the broad sandy bay of Porth Neigwl (15 minutes) should convince you to set off in a hurry. From Aberdaron (15 minutes), there are boat trips to Ynys Enlli, also known as Bardsey Island, which has colonies of grey seals and other gorgeous wildlife.
