Five spacious pitches

  • Small adults-only campsite in the village of Llanystumdwy, North Wales
  • A 15-minute drive to Snowdonia National Park; 25 minutes to Caernarfon
  • Well-maintained grass pitches and shower block; communal dining area
Family-run The Paddocks Caravan and Camping is a small and ultra-organised site with well-maintained, flat and spacious pitches in north Wales. It’s less than five minutes’ drive to the beach at Criccieth, and around half an hour to the imposing castles at Harlech and Caernarfon, making this a cracking adults-only base from which to explore the Llŷn Peninsula. It's a 10-minute trip by car to the wide, south-facing sands at Pwllheli, a former haunt of smugglers and pirates. You'll find it quite a bit calmer these days, especially if you follow the fab Llŷn Peninsula Coastal Path round the peninsula for views and wildlife and splendid sea air. Sandcastles, paddling and rockpool exploration are all there for the taking. If you’d rather ditch the car, a bus stop is five minutes’ walk away, or you can explore on two legs – perhaps a good place to start is the local village of Llanystumdwy (five minutes’ walk), as it’s the burial place of former Prime Minister David Lloyd George. You can see his grave and visit a small museum, and afterwards stroll down the banks of the scenic River Dwyfor or pop into the pub for a pint. Gleaming facilities on site include a well-lit shower block with two private bathrooms (each containing a large shower, wash-hand basin and toilet), plus a separate adjacent shower with a dressing room and a hair dryer. Nearby is a covered communal area with a table and seating, plus two washing-up sinks, a fridge-freezer, a separate drinks fridge, a microwave, toaster and a kettle. There's also a phone-charging point. Firepits and barbecues are allowed, but they must be raised off the ground and set up on one of the concrete slabs provided. Small chimineas and barbecues are available for nightly hire on site, and you can buy logs and charcoal here too. Please note that parties are not permitted – this is a quiet site.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Amazing campsite, one of the best we have been to. Very well maintained site with large pitches. The facilities were great - freezer, fridges, washing up area, chiminea/firepits for hire, plus lots of local info which was helpful. Everything was spotlessly clean. The site is on the smaller side which provides a relaxed, quiet and friendly atmosphere. Good location to explore North Wales. We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Just spent two nights at the Paddocks camp site and I must say the peace and quiet was that good I’d thought I’d gone to heaven. The camp site owners are very genuine, honest and informative people, nothing was too much trouble for them (including lending me hammer) the Paddock was absolutely immaculate, not one scrap of litter, and the grass mown to perfection. The amenities were outstanding, the cleanliness of the showers and toilets and the communal areas were fabulous better than some 5 star hotels I have stayed in. I will definitely recommend this site to friends and I can’t wait to return. Thank you.

Liked Shortly after arriving, I was pleasantly surprised. After speaking to the owner, I learned that we had a kettle, fridge, and microwave for our use. The toilets and showers were very clean. The campsite was very well-maintained, with Wi-Fi access. The owner was kind and helpful.

Liked The campsite was immaculate! Fantastic location! A+ facilities. Just wonderful, so very welcoming and able to assist even though I’d accidentally only booked 1 night instead of 2. Our dog loved the facilities and had lots of fun.

Powered grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The site is in a lovely area and easy to find. The pitches are flat, well-kept and large (10 x 10m). There are plenty of showers and toilets, a large fridge freezer for storing ice blocks, food etc, and a separate fridge for storing your other items. They also provide a kettle, toaster and microwave in a communal area along with 2/3 washing up sinks with supplied wash liquid, scourers, cloths and bowls. A number of items can be purchased in emergencies such as milk, eggs, tea and coffee. Barbecues and firepits are allowed as long as they are stood on a (provided) slab. You can also borrow a fireplace foc. There are 2 picnic tables in the communal area if you are minimalist campers. It's an adults only site which suits us very well! Free WiFi on site which we had no trouble in accessing (even managed to stream dome movies off it).

Disliked Absolutely nothing. On a par with any of the best campsites I have stayed at.
