  • Peaceful rural park in St Asaph
  • Four miles from the beaches and funfairs of Rhyl and Prestatyn
  • Excellently-kept amenities and plenty of tourist info on site
Did you know that - thanks to the Diamond Jubilee of good Queen Lilibet - that UK got three brand new cities in 2012? One of the newbies, St Asaph in Denbighshire, is home to just three thousand people if you’re curious about this tiny gem, come to Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park, where you’ll be perfectly placed to join in any right royal knees-up that might still be going on in St Asaph, and to visit the classic Welsh coastal resorts of Prestatyn and Rhyl. Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park is a peaceful rural site with well-kept pitches and with amenities kept to high standards by the friendly helpful team. There’s a great range of tourist information available on site to help you make the most of the local area. You’ll find a handful of shops, including a convenience store, butcher and chemist in the nearby village of Dyserth (don’t miss out on a stop at the stunning Dyserth waterfalls while you’re there).

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Absolutely stunning site.. the site is pristine very spacious plots.. toilets and showers and spotless..very secure site with ANPR entry and exit barriers.. will definitely be back

Disliked: Only 6 Amp hookup which isn’t a major issue but would be better if it was 10-16..wouldnt be put off from returning though

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review and we are very happy you enjoyed your visit.
Regarding the electricity the big field where you will have stayed is 6amp, the other side of the park is all 16 amp for next time when you book, please book a hard standing pitch, this will help with any electrical problems.
Many Thanks

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Beautifully clean and well kept site. Great toilet and shower block - everything very well organised e.g. recycling, check in. Very reasonable price for pitch including electricity.

Disliked: You definitely need a car as the site is very much away from shops and pubs etc. I did not see a bus stop nearby which would have been very useful. This is obviously not the fault of the site and I would definitely return.

Power optional grass tent campsite (large)

Liked: The staff are very welcoming, the security for the site is excellent with a registration barrier to allow access, the amenities are always excellent and clean, the camping field especially is very well maintained. It's local to so many areas that there's plenty to do, there's something for everyone. It's a picturesque place. We've been going for 3 years and will continue to go.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: The hosts were wonderful, caring, helpful, chatty, knowledgeable, hardworking, approachable and on hand 24/7, they took great pride in the site. Great customer service. The faciities and site were immaculate. Lots of places of interest to visit in the area, leaflets available in the reception and the laundry. Very Quiet and peaceful. Loved the option that we could stay for a half day on our day of departure(small charge well worth it) so we could pack up at our leisure.

Disliked: nothing to dislike other than having to come home!!

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Very clean in all areas.
Pitches almost level.
Great location.
Felt safe even though the site was not busy.
Very quiet. Could not hear the A55.

Disliked: Site full of seasonal tourers that where empty. A bit spooky at first as it was like aliens had just taken everyone.

Wifi is a chargeable extra but 4G coverage is good.

Local attractions

For families, the safe sandy beaches, funfairs and plentiful tourist attractions of Rhyl and Prestatyn - just four miles away - will no doubt be top of the list. The attractive seaside resorts of Llandudno and Colwyn Bay are also within an easy drive. Fishing fans can try the trout farm ten minutes up the road from Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park, or head into St Asaph to fish the River Elwy; walkers can saunter through a superb selection of scenery, including nearby Offa’s Dyke, or drive to Snowdonia National Park and hike the mountains and lakes; and golfers will also find that this area suits them to a tee, with a huge choice of courses including Caerwys, Meliden, Rhuddlan, Rhyl, Holywell and Prestatyn. Other top picks for sightseeing include the village of Betws-Y-Coed and the neighbouring Swallow Falls; the imposing remains of Rhuddlan Castle; and seventeenth century Bodrhyddan Hall, where a 3,000-year-old mummy lurks among the armour and period furniture...
