  • A working farm a mile and a half from Llangollen
You’ll be more than abbey when you get here and have a butcher’s at the farm shop selling home-grown beef, pork and lamb, the cosy camping pods, and the cute tearoom that’ll serve you a full Monty, a delicious lunch or a naughty home-made cake... Actually, there is an abbey here, and rather beautiful it is, too: the ancient ruins of Valle Crusis, which are a heritage attraction in their own right. Abbey Farm Caravan Park is snuggled among lush hills and crystalline streams, which makes for some pretty cool views all round. An hour from Liverpool, and an hour and a half from Manchester, Abbey Farm is just a mile and a half outside of the picturesque town of Llangollen, and within 1 1/2 hours of the whole of North Wales and snowdonia’s main tourist attractions. There's a wealth of things to do within a short distance of The Abbey Farm, the list is exhaustive. So whether you are into walking, sailing, a history l over, white water rafting, mountain biking you’ll and something for everyone who likes the outdoors.

Local attractions

Abbey Farm is easily accessible from Liverpool and Manchester (both about an hour away), and from the West Midlands (Birmingham is an hour and a half’s drive from here). A five minute meander leads either to the rushing River Dee, or to the calm splendour of the canal, where you can admire the horse-drawn narrowboats (you can board one of these boat trips in nearby Llangollen). Llangollen is world famous for its Eisteddfod international music festival, but is a lovely place to visit anytime: there’s a steam railway and a museum as well as the heritage canal boats. For mountain bikers and ramblers, Coed Llandegla Forest is well worth a trip. It’s a privately run site with miles of trails to suit all abilities, plus a visitor centre in a pretty log cabin among the trees, which houses a great café, bike hire, a cycling shop and a workshop for professional repairs.
