  • Peaceful garden site on a Scottish farm 15 minutes’ drive from Perth
  • Dundee half an hour’s drive; Edinburgh and Glasgow an hour by train
  • Café and gift shop on site; pubs, takeaways and shops 15 minutes’ walk
Looking for a peaceful Perthshire hideaway? At 15 minutes’ drive from Perth on the River Tay, Kilgraston Farm has just a small accommodation area tucked under a canopy of trees in a sprawling farmhouse garden. It make a handy central Scotland base for exploring as far afield as Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee by train or bus, and into the Cairngorms National Park by car. There's plenty of space here (even for large motorhomes) and on-site facilities encompass a shower and composting toilet, a barbecue for shared use and outdoor seating. The owners can provide electric hook-ups, and as there is a café – cutely housed in a yurt – on site, you can order breakfast, soups and homemade cakes to keep you going through the day. In need of a souvenir or two? Pick up locally made ceramics and scanted candles from the farm’s flower/gift shop. Bridge of Earn (15 minutes’ walk) has all basic facilities, from a post office to a pharmacy, as well as three pubs, a fish and chip shop and takeaways.

What customers say

This charming site offers a relaxed atmosphere with a beautiful garden and whimsical personal touches. Guests frequently praise the exceptionally friendly and accommodating hosts. The optional breakfast is described as generous and delicious, and the on-site cafe and shop are popular. Facilities are generally clean, though one reviewer found them outdated and unsuitable for RVs. Some guests noted slight road noise. Walking distance to local amenities is convenient.

Liked We loved the setting of the pitch - rural enough for some peace and quiet but close enough to the village to pick up supplies. The garden area is stunning and we found it was perfect for a chilled night watching the sunset and then doing some stargazing. The yurt is a cosy wee area and we were intrigued about the cafe so slightly gutted we opted against the breakfast as that would’ve been a great end to our holiday. Maybe next time! I’ve already recommended it to a friend for a night away on her own as it’s such a lovely wee place.

Liked We had a wonderful stay at Kilgraston Farm Yurt! Carol and Mark were absolutely delightful hosts, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The yurt itself was charming and cozy, surrounded by beautiful nature, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Carol and Mark went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, sharing local tips and making sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their hospitality truly made our experience special.

We highly recommend Kilgraston Farm Yurt for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with exceptional hosts. Thank you, Carol and Mark, for an unforgettable experience!

Haven Hut 1 bedroom cabin

Liked Peaceful and secluded

Disliked Not much offered for breakfast.
Compostable toilet
Dark area not much natural day sight.
Hut very small couldn't sit during the evening and play games, areas around the garden to sit were very dark unable to sit as a couple and relax unless we were going to bed.

From the manager: I am very sorry that you felt that there was not much offered for breakfast. My guests have previously commented of how generous the breakfast is as it includes cereal, toast, homemade jam, fresh fruit, yogurt, freshly baked croissants, fresh orange juice, tea and freshly roasted coffee. The hut is small, as stated in the description, however, there is space to sit at the table in the hut and play card/board games (provided). I also offer the use of the warm, spacious yurt to sit in in the evenings, where I provide board games, a woodburning stove and reading materials. I am surprised you found the garden dark, as there are plenty of tables to sit at which are in full sun all day. There is also both a compostable toilet and a flushable toilet for your use.

Local attractions

There's an easy circular stroll directly from the site, leading through a wood now inhabited by beavers. If you fancy a decent hike combined with a dollop of history, head for Moncrieffe Hill (45 minutes’ walk); as well as a variety of trails and far-reaching views over Perthshire, there’s a brace of Iron Age hill forts to discover. Lively Perth (15 minutes’ drive) has decent shopping options, a leisure pool, concert hall and cinema (all good ideas for rainy-day distractions). When the weather’s good, you can also stroll along the banks of the Tay, discover the gardens at North and South Inch, and have a yomp through woodland up Kinoull Hill. If you’re keen to explore further afield, the spectacular galleries and museums of Edinburgh and Glasgow are both about an hour away by train. Dundee (half an hour’s drive) also makes a great day trip, with inspirational art and design displays at the V&A Dundee, which has a dramatic concrete façade designed to replicate cliffs along Scotland’s eastern coastline.
