  • Green rural getaway in Scotland's first Fairtrade town
  • Spectacular scenery and plenty of open space
  • Manicured landscape with spacious level pitches
Set on the outskirts of a small market town, Aberfeldy Caravan Park is a welcoming park surrounded by the oh-so-scenic Highland Perthshire. It's on the banks of the river Tay, so families, couples and solo travellers should all find the setting lovely and peaceful. This prime location means easy access to local attractions, whether it's visiting the historic Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery or scenic walks along the Birks of Aberfeldy (both within a short walk of the park). Once home to famed poet Robert Burns and made more popular still by its status as the first Fairtrade town on Scotland’s map, Aberfeldy also has shops, restaurants and pubs (all a short walk away) . You’ve picked the right spot too if you're after a green and rural getaway: the handsomely manicured grounds and garden here provide spacious and level pitches at the park, all accessible by a clearly marked path. Then take a step through the gate on to the footpath that runs between the site and the River Tay and you’re slap bang in peaceful Scottish countryside. When you’re not admiring the view of the river or the Strath Tay landscape thick with hillsides and trees from your pitch (it’s enough to make anyone come over all poetic), the kids should like the open space in which to run around and the well-equipped play area on site. The site has clean shower and toilet facilities and a laundry service, along with other handy amenities, and you can bring your pup along for a plentiful helping of Scottish air too.

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Love this campsite. We have now been here 3 times this year in our campervan and twice in previous years in our tent. The site is very flat, nicely maintained. Grass pitches for campervaans, MH's seem to mostly have a small paved area to the side for BBQ, camping chairs etc.

We also loved the location of the site. Step outside the campsite and you are basically on the main street in Aberfeldy (Shops, Bars, restaurants etc).

Disliked Nothing to dislike avout this site. We did initially think that the pay-as-you-go electric hookup would be annoying, but after using it, we think it's great and easy to use if needed.

Liked Thought seems to have been given to how to lay out the site and make things as easy for new arrivals as possible (other than the point below).
Good pitch sizes.
The shower facilities were great. lovely and warm shower area, hot water and a stool (which i thought very considerate).
Good location to walk to nearby places or drive to places further away.
Easy to find everything you need with good signage.
The negatives below do not outweigh the positives and i would recommend the site And Use it again.

Disliked Not a massive thing but i did struggle to find my actual pitch. A map was sent via email but cant open these things on my phone. I think a map at the entrance would be easier. Being a one way system makes it more difficult if you miss it and need to go round again. Didn't find the numbering that easy to see, even when someone showed me where it was.
There was also a large poll right in front of my pitch making it a little more difficult than for other pitches to park up.

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked We choose this site for its location to the lovely town of Aberfeldy. A short walk and we were in the town.
The staff were very friendly at the site. The pitches were level and we had access to the river to walk into town too.

Disliked We felt the pitches were quite close and people just walked right through your pitch. There seemed to be a lot of seasonal pitches and lots of clutter around their pitches.
The gates were locked by 7pm but there was a key box if we needed to get in or out.
The facilities were a bit dated.

Liked Site was easy to find and close to the centre of town (3min walk). The pitches were well laid out and level with some paving where the van door was. Facilities were clean and good. Overall very happy.

Disliked Didn’t use the electric hook up as it appeared to be a bit of a faff to set up and we were only there for one night, so not needed.

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely setting next to the river, friendly site, toilet facilities clean and tidy, very efficient booking and communication system.
We liked the pay for electric...i can see some people found this tricky...we were OK with it and it was hassle free.

Disliked A little close to other caravans but not hemmed in either and maybe a few more signs or map given for direction of bins/water...we struggle walking and so even though it is not a big site it would have been better to know if left or right was nearest.

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked -

Disliked The company that rented us the camper had a delay, which is why we were 2 hours late and couldn't be at the caravan park at 4pm as planned. In the booking confirmation from Aberfeldy Caravan Parc it says to contact them if you don't arrive by 5pm for instructions and access. When I contacted them, I was turned away with the explanation that I had to arrive by 5pm. In addition to the stress with the campervan hire company, we then had to look for new accommodation at short notice. That was very disappointing for our first night in Scotland. Fortunately, there are other campgrounds who support you in such a situation and don't just let you down like Aberfeldy did.

Local attractions

The historic Dewar’s World of Whisky distillery is within handy walking distance from the site for tipples, tours and your fill of liquor heritage. The vibrant highland town of Aberfeldy, for shoppers and lovers of all things organic, is a 10-minute walk away in one direction: get your caddy in tow if going here too, because in the other direction is a golf course within walking distance. If you're a hill walker, join the footpath along the River Tay straight from the site which leads to an array of walking challenges; from a stroll (via a pub, naturally) or a hike up some of the landscape’s more demanding routes: the view at the end (and all the way along, in fact) will be well worth it… Cyclists and mountain bikers have a fair bit of varying terrain to try out in the area, from the old railway path along the Rob Roy Way linking Aberfeldy and Grandtully gently taking in the sites of the area that inspired Robert Burns, to the steady climb of Castle Dow and other steeper tracks.
