  • Peaceful family-oriented site among spectacular scenery
  • A short drive to the New Forest; walking distance to Moors Valley
  • Local pub 20 minutes' walk away
Gundrys Farm is a peaceful family-run site in a wildlife haven 10 minutes' drive from the New Forest. A former working farm, it covers 50 acres of land to make up a scenic, friendly and family-oriented site with a countryside atmosphere. The farm is adjacent to the Moors Valley Country Park, 15 minutes of off-road walk or a short bike ride away, and 10 minutes' drive from Avon Heath Country Park. Outdoor days of a different sort can be easily had at Hurn's Adventure Wonderland, just over five miles away. Gundrys is a quiet site, with spacious, level and well-maintained pitches in a dedicated touring field in a wildlife haven with heaps of species to see. The local pub is worth spotting too, as it's only 20 minutes' amble away… Amenities include three shower blocks, four toilet blocks, washing-up areas and chemical disposal points, all of which are cleaned/checked several times daily.

Primrose powered grass campsite

Liked We stayed for two nights and it was not long enough! It was soo peaceful, very secure and had a huge space for the kids to play without worrying (take things to play with as it is just an empty field) We had an autistic child and this was absolutely perfect. The showers, washing up sinks and toilets were clean and maintained everyday. There is a country park 2mins away with lots of activities todo! although booking before you go is definitely recommended as we could not do some things as they were fully booked. The staff are very friendly and easy to talk to.

Disliked ..nothing

Primrose powered grass campsite

Liked This camp site was a lovely place to stay. On arrival I was greeted and given options about where we could pitch, and was happily accommodated around our needs.
The staff are friendly and down to earth people and being on my own with my children camping, I felt comfort from this.
I had been apprehensive about the cobwebs in toilets as stated on the reviews I had read before going, however I was pleasantly surprised to see the toilet block maintained very well and kept clean throughout the day time. The WiFi didn’t pick up very well however my mobile data worked fine and we were able to use data hotspot. I would definitely go back again.

Primrose powered grass campsite

Liked The area is looked after and clean

Disliked The showers and toilets let this place down. There are only 3 small showers in a very very small space and another one that is slightly larger. These are for men and women and they are meant for all fields! You will see a queue outside for them and quite a few were coming out with their towel wrapped round them and walking over to tents/caravan. And not to mention the huge spiders in the toilets and cobwebs!! There are no other facilities on site. The nearest convenience shop is about 30 minute walk away and there is a lovely park near the shops.

Primrose powered grass campsite

Liked Big grassy area in the middle meant that the kids could run around safely, and be easily seen.
There were not many other people there when we were so it was lovely and quiet.
Clean loos.
Camping field was clean.
BBQs allowed.
Easy checking in with barrier code.
Near Moors Valley Country Park.

Disliked Shower block could do with an upgrade but was functional.
At a busy time, I think two loos would seem quite a small amount.
Our pitches were right in front of a small fenced area where the chemical toilets were emptied - not smelly and there was drinking water tap there but a bit unsightly.
We found the booking process very impersonal - online, I could not get through by phone. We wanted three pitches but needed to make three separate booking as we were coming at different times, so three payments and emails seemed confusing.

Primrose powered grass campsite

Liked Large area for your motorhome and nice flat ground

Disliked We were parked under a acorn tree that dropped acorns all night so couldn't sleep, the toilets and showers are in a different field. Showers need to be updated, the whole site needs a rethink, they have the space on site to do improvements.

Local attractions

Nature trails, bike paths, a golf course and monkeying around in the treetops of Go Ape are all at Moors Valley Country Park, reachable from Gundrys Farm via an easy bike ride or short ramble. Avon Heath Country Park and New Forest are both within a short drive. About 10 miles away are the clean, safe and award-winning beaches and waters of Bournemouth, Poole and Mudeford; sailing venue Weymouth is a bit further along the coast, and the Jurassic Coast is about 50 to 60 minutes from base by car. If you want to island-hop, it's about half an hour to the ferry for Brownsea Island, the National Trust wildlife haven in Poole Harbour accessible by boat from Poole Quay or Sandbanks. Brownsea has a shop and a café for after your island hike or a watery dip off the island's southern side; free guided walks leave from the visitor centre twice daily. Also in the area, the old centres of Salisbury and Southampton are both well worth the trip for city days out.
