  • Family-run site a mile from the Jurassic Coast
  • Footpath leading to the South West Coast Path
  • Shop next door and pubs within walking distance
Guests return season after season to serene Osmington Mills Corner Campsite in its Dorset coast setting just outside the village of Osmington: it's been family run for over 60 years and has Dorset site stays down pat. Spacious pitches, room for kids to run around, and scenic views towards Weymouth four miles away are the secrets of its success, along with a peaceful rural vibe, restaurants nearby, and the site's closeness to the sea, a mile from the beaches of the Jurassic Coast. You can easily access the region's spectacular walks from here too, as a footpath leads from the site to the coast to connect with the South West Coast Path. (Or if that's a no thanks to the walk, a bus stop is just outside the site with services running to Weymouth.) Osmington has toilets, showers, a washing-up area and the means for ice pack freezing and gadget charging. A shop is next door to the site, and pubs and restaurants are within walking distance.

What customers say

This is a friendly, no-frills campsite with great value, perfectly located for exploring the Jurassic Coast and Weymouth with a bus stop right outside. Guests love the pitch choice freedom and relaxed vibe. Facilities are clean and functional, though some say they're dated. Hot water for dishwashing is often requested, and the site can be hilly.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Spacious fields and early check in. Facilities aren’t luxurious but they were kept clean. Cheap teas and coffees available. Friendly team. Kids can relax and play. Convenient for Durdle Door day trip.

Disliked No strong dislikes. But it was basic (as advertised and cheap enough). Poor EE mobile signal.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great location bus route directly outside park back to basics type camping/campervan. The owners are the most helpful knowledgeable and loveliest people you’ll ever meet. The site is basic and clean. That is all you can ask for and standard pitch fee all season is a great touch.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked It was cheap

Disliked The showers were very disappointing, resembling little more than a leaky pipe in the roof, rather than providing a proper shower facility.

There is also no designated chemical toilet disposal point, meaning this has to be done using the toilets within the cubicles. This results in the facilities being less than desirable, with splashing and mess left around the toilet area.

The grass across the site is also left very long and is not cut short in any areas. Given the dry conditions, this creates a significant concern regarding how quickly a fire could potentially spread across the site.

The lack of designated pitches is another frustration. You are essentially left trying to squeeze your tent or vehicle into whatever space is available between other campers, while the size of individual pitches does not appear to be controlled. This can make it difficult to find a suitable amount of space, particularly when neighbouring campers have taken up a disproportionately large area.

From the manager: Sorry this was not you're cup of tea .There are numerous points there which you make, firstly campers like the ability to have large spaces ,We are primarily a tent site and have no chemical point but the toilets are cleaned many times each day and if a problem is brought to our attention we immediately resolve it .The long grass i must dispute the summer has been so hot there is barely any grass on site as we speak. We are a site that prides ourselves on customer service ,but can only resolve issues if brought to our attention .We hope you enjoy the rest of the summer.

Local attractions

Get out onto the South West Coast Path close to the site, try your hand at fishing for Dorset mackerel, canter along the coast on horseback, take a boat out, or up the ante with some kayaking or zorbing… all available nearby. Weymouth, four miles away, has been a famed Dorset seaside spot since Georgian times and these days has stacks to do such as sailing and surfing (several surf schools are around if you're just starting out), a long sandy beach and a Sea Life Centre, miniature railway and RSPB reserve above the town at Lodmoor Country Park. More famed Dorset days can be had with fossil hunting on Chesil Beach, six miles away, and taking in the sight of spectacular Durdle Door at Lulworth Cove, within seven miles of the site. You could also chatter with the inhabitants of Monkey World, see the swans at the award-winning Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, or steam along to the Tank Museum at Bovington, all reachable within 10 miles.
