What customers say
This woodland campsite offers a peaceful, private experience on well-kept, isolated sites. Guests rave about the friendly, accommodating owners. Facilities are clean and good, with a charming honesty box. Some note ticks, though the site offers advice. A few found facilities rustic but charming. Highly recommended for nature lovers seeking an immersive forest escape.

Great value, an experience, hands-off
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Organisation is on point. Tour, materials needed, toilet, and parking are all well organised. Campsite owners were absolutely lovely and grounds were well maintained.
The pitches are incredibly well isolated, everything feels so close and so far at the same time its truly amazing. You will feel as though you have the forest to yourself.
These are owners who aren't interested in scraping every penny out of your pocket and the land, they truly sell an experience along with the pitch. Fire bins are provided, and firewood is very reasonable for the amount you recieve. You can also top up firewood when you like, as it is via an honest jar (cash but there is a bank transfer option).
Thank you once again, we are still blown away.

We will be back in the autumn, when there are less ticks.
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked A beautiful & peaceful site, we stayed this weekend just gone. We had a beautiful pitch all to ourselves, it was private & we couldn't see any other people campers from our lovely spot.
The owners of the site we lovely, welcoming & helpful.
We will definitely be back in the autumn, when there are hopefully less ticks around as it really stressed me out with them being on our dogs & also my fiancé had a couple on him.
Disliked The only thing that spoilt it was the sheer amount of ticks there was, we have camped in woodland type camps this time of year before but never encountered this amount of Ticks before, I know this is beyond the control of the campsites owners but if there had been some kind of notice warning when booking that there may be a high volume of ticks at certain times of the year it would have been helpful.
Thankfully there was a pets at home near which we went to to buy spray for our tent & treatment for our 2 dogs.

From the manager: We are sorry to hear you experienced ticks during you stay. Unfortunately ticks are present in any countryside setting. Interestingly, today's BBC Devon news coverage has reported that 'Devon and Cornwall have the highest rates of tick bites in England'.
As responsible campsite owners we do however always display an NHS poster with their tick advice as well as providing a spray and tick removal tool.
As to your suggestion of a warning about tick levels at the time of bookings, I'm not sure what we could do? How would we know from one day to the next what the volume of ticks could be? Perhaps research of the areas to camp in at certain times of the year should be the campers responsibility?
Thank you for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your pitch.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked Gorgeous place to stay. All the pitches are very enclosed and far enough away from others to feel private. The toilets are great, and a shower cubical is available. There's a little trailer with many things available for purchase via an honesty box - wood, kindling, fresh eggs, lighter, fresh honey, and more. The car park is a short walk to the pitches. The forest is lovely, there is a public path next to the campsite for walks which the dog loved. The pigs are very friendly and will run over to you. Would highly recommend!

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked It is the most blissful campsite we've been too. Nestled in the trees, our pitch was in a sunny clearing giving both sun and shade. We couldn't see or hear the other campers, only the calls of the birds and the shrieks of the foxes. We had our own compost loo and a firepit to while away the evening (the pit, not the loo). Gorgeous.

We received a friendly welcome from…
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked We received a friendly welcome from the owner who showed us options of different pitches and also gave us information about the site and area.
The site itself is incredibly peaceful and lovely to explore.
Numerous walking routes are nearby - including to a warm and welcoming nearby pub.
There were many helpful facilities including trolleys to take your gear from the car park to your pitch, which vary in distance up to a few minutes walk.
We went during a stormy period but we felt cosy and sheltered from the wind on our pitched called “Elder”.
It’s great to come away from a break feeling we have left minimal trace with composting toilets and solar shower bags.
The site seems well looked after, we would certainly come again.
