  • Bohemian Devon glampsite surrounded by a 300-acre ancient woodland
  • A 10-minute drive from Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast
  • Yoga sessions, woodland bar and pop-up forest feasts on site
With a spot-on location for adventures on the Jurassic Coast and a bohemian glamping vibe, MAJU Glampsite at Hartgrove Hill Farm is a sweet spot for a Devon break. For extra measure, this scenic glampsite is on one of the highest viewpoints in Devon, surrounded by the woodlands of Trinity Hill in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (a spectacular lookout if there ever was one). From here, it's only a 10-minute drive to Lyme Regis and only a little further to other Jurassic Coast highlights including Golden Cap, Seatown and Eype. This is a place for glamping adventures with a bohemian spirit, staying in boutique canvas bell tents embedded with traditional Indian patterns and furnished with unique interiors. Pop-up clean flushing toilets and hot showers are only a short stroll away. For tasty nosh and drinks, there are firepits for rent to cook under the stars (a farm shop and Axminster's supermarkets are five minutes’ drive away). You might want to put in an order to have breakfast delivered to your tent from the pop-up MAJU kitchen. On top of that, there’s always the option of popping next door to see what the neighbour (Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall) has going on at River Cottage HQ…

Local attractions

Tummy well-fed with all the eating options on site, you should have plenty of energy to power your activities in this part of Devon. That includes crabbing or fishing trips in Lyme Regis (10 minutes’ drive) and flying across the high ropes course at The Tunnel Tree Tops (10 minutes) – or slowly crawling, if you’re the more tentative type. If you’d like to continue treating your stomach nicely, sample some of the mead, wine and cider at the Lyme Bay Winery (15 minutes). It should be easy to track down fish and chips after your beach days at Seatown beach (15 minutes), Eype beach (20 minutes) and Monmouth Beach (10 minutes). Monmouth beach, by the way, has a limestone ammonite carpet at low tide that reveals fossils. What else? Visiting the wildlife at Axe Valley Wildlife Park (five minutes), creeping around the Beer Quarry Caves (15 minutes) used to quarry beer stone or following in the wake of smugglers at Golden Cap (15 minutes)? A house tour at Forde Abbey and Gardens (20 minutes)?

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked: Lovely atmosphere.
Toms Tub did very tasty dinners.
Great events- we were there just 2 nights and managed to enjoy live acoustic music + koftas first night, yoga the next morning, then an open fire feast on second night! All very enjoyable and worth the money.
With live music and rustic kind of tent lounge it had a relaxed, family festival vibe - very nice.
Owner of campsite clearly cares and wants it to be successful and enjoyable, not just another "place to sleep" like many campsites.
We had a wonderful time and would come back again.

Disliked: Not much!
Only 2 toilets at far end of field from camper pitches. Would be nice to have another block at the other end.
Camp felt almost a little TOO spacious somehow. A long walk across open field from campervan pitch to toilets . Maybe just a tweak to layout next year would help.
There's not really anything in walking distance except River Cottage literally opposite (didn't go- can't rate it) - not something to dislike, just bear in mind you'll need to drive out to anywhere for supplies/lunch etc.
