  • Back to basics site in a peaceful north Devon paddock
  • A 20-minute drive from Westward Ho!; 30 minutes from Dartmoor
  • Wildlife haven on the edge of a deciduous woodland
Plonk yourselves down in this lush Devon paddock for peaceful hols in gorgeously green surrounds. Wonders Corner Camping is located in a gentle landscape at the bottom of a small hill; it's also bordered by deciduous woodland where deer, pheasants and squirrels can regularly be seen flitting through the trees.  This is a back to basics kind of spot, but essentials like toilets and showers are taken care of. This family-owned smallholding has an environmental ethos and uses solar panels and sustainable waste disposal systems. Light pollution is pleasingly low in this quiet part of Devon, so pack some snacks and warm clothes for late-night stargazing. Sound pollution should also be little trouble here – the site is set well back from the road in a secluded location.  At breakfast time, get up early to catch the morning chorus, then head down to the on-site coffee shop for a hot drink. In the evening, feel free to light up a barbecue and get grilling (the nearest farm shop is a 10-minute drive away if you need to stock up). Wonders Corner Camping is also close to the pubs and restaurants on hand in nearby Great Torrington (10 minutes' drive).  Dogs are welcome here (and the owners have a fine canine specimen of their own), but please keep them at a respectful distance from the livestock that live in neighbouring fields.
