  • Back to basics site in a peaceful north Devon paddock
  • A 20-minute drive from Westward Ho!; 30 minutes from Dartmoor
  • Wildlife haven on the edge of a deciduous woodland
Plonk yourselves down in this lush Devon paddock for peaceful hols in gorgeously green surrounds. Wonders Corner Camping is located in a gentle landscape at the bottom of a small hill; it's also bordered by deciduous woodland where deer, pheasants and squirrels can regularly be seen flitting through the trees.  This is a back to basics kind of spot, but essentials like toilets and showers are taken care of. This family-owned smallholding has an environmental ethos and uses solar panels and sustainable waste disposal systems. Light pollution is pleasingly low in this quiet part of Devon, so pack some snacks and warm clothes for late-night stargazing. Sound pollution should also be little trouble here – the site is set well back from the road in a secluded location.  At breakfast time, get up early to catch the morning chorus, then head down to the on-site coffee shop for a hot drink. In the evening, feel free to light up a barbecue and get grilling (the nearest farm shop is a 10-minute drive away if you need to stock up). Wonders Corner Camping is also close to the pubs and restaurants on hand in nearby Great Torrington (10 minutes' drive).  Dogs are welcome here (and the owners have a fine canine specimen of their own), but please keep them at a respectful distance from the livestock that live in neighbouring fields.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Absolutely lovely stay at Wonders Corner farm. The hosts are very caring and cheerful. Grass field (soft) with no cars allowed on the field, but cars are close to you, so just a few more meters if your equipment is heavy. We were lucky to be 1 of 3 tents on the whole field, so amazing atmosphere of peacefulness and countryside.
Toilets and showers are top class. Large showers rooms with always hot water - something you really find while camping.
No electricity hookup if you need it, but a kettle is available in utility room and sockets are there too.
We will definitely return in the next season,

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Best of all worlds: friendly owners who were helpful without being intrusive; spotless ablutions in a rustic barn lit with fairy lights; and a happy mix of privacy and pleasant interaction with other campers. Appreciated the wheelbarrow to transport our gear from our car to our pitch (the field where you camp isn't suitable for vehicles). The slightly sloping site wasn't a problem for us. Enjoyed a visit from the affectionate farm cat.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Really enjoyed our stay, the family were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We even helped move the sheep!
It was perfect for us, quiet and a time to connect with nature. An opportunity to get away from a busy life and rest with the family.

Disliked: Nothing

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Exactly what we were looking for; a big field where a small cluster of small tents accommodated our party of 6 adults, no overcrowding, great shower/toilet facilities and a host who was only too keen to help us, for example provided cooler bags, kettle for a quick cuppa help with suggestions, a general interest in us, etc.
