Primitive grass campsite

Liked Our second stay here and we loved it just as much as the first; a great campsite in a great location for Woolacombe, Mortehoe and Ilfracombe, while a wander down to Lee is also worth it for the scenery.

The facilities are good, with a good farm shop and good general supplies store, with friendly staff all round. We also had the cooked breakfast from the cafe this time and it was enjoyed by all.

Disliked While there’s a freezer for freezer packs, a fridge to keep basic supplies would be welcome.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Fabulous pics hope to see you next year :-)

Good site if you are looking for the basics for a few days camping.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Large and spacious site for each pitch.
Lots of nearby walks and cycle routes.
The cafe does great breakfast and pizzas.
The onsite shop has a good selection of fresh and store cupboard food.
Plenty of space for kids to cycle bikes.
Availablity of freezer for ice blocks.
Onsite zip wire & bike hire for a charge.
Firepits hire was a good option for evenings.
20 min drive to nearby beach and coast

Disliked Overflowing bins and recycling opposite reception.
Backfield showers and toilets looking shabby. Hairs in plughole could have been cleaned up.
No onsite free entertainment/facility. Would have been good to have a seperate room for kids/ adults to socialise. A room with a few things to do would be nice especially on wet days. Even somewhere to share books, have a game of table tennis or pool etc..

From the manager: Firstly I would like to thank you for your kind comments and comments regarding zip wire bike hire fire pit all the cycle routes etc etc everything we describe you did for get the pump track for the kids and sauna and wellness are and spa yard
We are not a Butlins type site we state we are traditional camping
The Recycling bins are plentiful but for some reason people only like to use the two front bits the 10 bins behind them are nearly always empty
We wont be adding a games room not what we are about im afraid if you want this type of place to stay something more commercial for next time maybe (for the commercial price I expect to? )
We always explain the back extra showers are not quite so pretty but are more traditional and there are plenty of showers in the main block ? We pride ourselves on our cleaning and Im sure the hairs moved during cleaning at least twice a day ( When I shower I normally clean anything I may leave myself and if this was reported we would have cleaned it immediately )

Overall we alway enjoy camping here as we know it well and feel safe.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Family friendly, lovely little camp shop, cafe, activities, really helpful on the days you forgot milk or bread! The facilities are good and family friendly. Having campfires available made such a lovely evening vibe. Dogs allowed on camp but never any mess or concern with children, everyone very safe and respectful. Also in close distance to days out by car 10-20mins to supermarket, beaches, outings, places to visit.

Disliked We have camped here a few summers now over 6yrs and always enjoyed it. Our recent trip however the facilities were not quite as clean as previous years and not quite as friendly. However we noticed once the owner returned on our 2nd day the campsite running seemed to be tighter and cleaner! Just to add the toilet roll dispenser is so annoying!!

Knowing we were a family with 4 children, youngest being 2 and camping for a whole week, they pitched us really far from the facilities & at the bottom of a hill so when we came to pack up our tent was very water logged underneath. As we have camped in various spot we would ask for a specific area next time.

From the manager: So Glad you enjoyed your stay with us again
If you had requested a different pitch we would have tried to help in anyway we could
Im sorry about the rain fingers crossed next time the sun will bless us all :-)

Liked The showers are well designed, but could do with a couple more hooks for hanging clothes. The onsite shop great addition. The onsite café produced excellent quality food. There is also a hot tub, cold barrels and sauna. There are plenty of friendly staff on hand. Quiet time was enforced by the staff.

Disliked It would be useful to have washing machines and dryers. The ladies' showers did not have a squeegee in them.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Everything!! This campsite was brill. We enjoyed everything about it and had a lovely bank holiday weekend stay.
Pitches were a good size .
Toilets and showers were clean with lots of hot water and decent shower pressure.
Breakfasts in the morning were excellent, cooked well with amazing eggs !!
Pizza for tea in the evening was great and not too expensive.
Really friendly and helpful staff on reception and the bike hire.
My daughter enjoyed the zip wire, which was well explained, safe and the guy was extremely professional and explained all aspects of it to her.
We would definitely recommend to others and will be returning in the future 😀
