General

  • Family-friendly and family-run site with walks down to Lee Bay
  • Set on 27 peaceful acres a couple of miles from Woolacombe
  • Farm shop, tearoom and e-bike/bike hire: trails straight from the farm

Traditional Devon farm stays are the name of the game at family-owned and -run Lee Meadow Farm a couple of miles from the sands and surf of Woolacombe, set among 27 acres with woodland views on one side and Devon hills on the other, and with views of the Bristol Channel towards Wales.

There's a farm shop here too, selling free-range eggs from the farm's hens alongside stacks of products made fresh on site, and a site tearoom for cream teas before (and after) walks from the site down to Lee Bay through Fuschia Valley.

Easy walks and bike rides are simple to access straight from the farm, and the safe cycling of the former Ilfracombe branch line is just at the end of the farm lane. There's plenty of space on site for kids to run about too.

Facilities are well kept and include free hot showers, flushing toilets and washing-up sinks; a disabled shower and toilet facilities plus a baby changing area and a token-operated hairdryer. E-bike and cycle hire is available on site.

And finally, the two pubs within walking distance selling fine ales, cider and food are faves with the locals – always a good sign for pubs…

We stayed here for two nights. I've probably camped in 50 sites over my lifetime and must say this is the nicest one stayed in. The whole feel of the site felt nice and i think this radiates from the owner (Matt) and the staff. All the staff we dealt with were a please to speak to, friendly and helpful. Matt was around from first thing in the morning to last thing at night, and was always friendly. Our battery went flat overnight and he was there within 2-3minutes to jump start us! He also went round collecting broken equipment/rubbish. The site is clean, tidy and well maintained. Toilets/showers were clean and washing up area too. A good farm shop and takeaway (pizza/fried breakfast etc). Had a popup bar one night which was a nice surprise. There is a no music rule which helps at night and no playground. There is a lovely walk down to Lee Bay which has a pub and nice beach. I can only assume those who leave poor reviews are trying to make sure there is space for when they return!

The toilets in the field behind the shop felt like they were still needing finishing and not as spacious but they were still clean snd tidy.

Well, there was so much to like, great pitches with a lovely view of the sun set each night. A well stocked farm shop which we used most days with fresh produce that I would recommend. The bathrooms had clean hot showers and toilets.
I broke down on the first day and they were very accommodating which took the stress out of a stressful situation, including using the quad to get my camping gear to the pitch, they went over and above what we would expect.
The site had bike and kayak hire which we used.
I will be booking in next year for another great stay.

We liked that the site was all tents and so there was no sense of inferiority to camper vans and caravans. We liked the fire pit and the pizzas and being so close to Lee Beach

    Disliked:

The traffic to Lee Beach was a bit of a squash and a squeeze, but what can you expect

What a wonderful place, great views from the top field, other fields sheltered by hedges if you prefer. Sunsets everyday!

Offered a choice of pitches on arrival.

    Firepit rental. (Logs and kindling)

No music policy, it was so nice to hear people talking and laughing in the evenings, lots of dogs and children around the site.

Great little shop with the essentials, rum, wine and cider!

The shop also sells stone baked pizzas in the evening, absolutely fantastic you have to try (pre-order and collect at a specified time)

All the staff were smiling and were very helpful.

Toilets and showers basic but clean and functioning. Showers a good temperature.

We had a non electric pitch, however we were allowed to use a spare power point for phones etc.

One of the best camp sites I have stayed at in Devon.
