  • Scenic family-friendly site on the spectacular Dartington Estate
  • A five-minute drive from Totnes and 40 minutes from Exeter
  • Virtual multi-sports, family events, walks and eateries on the estate
After hearing about Camping Dartington in the scenic countryside of the Dartington Estate, you will surely want to make a beeline right there. Surrounded by sloping fields, riverside walks and ancient woodland, it's a peaceful, simple and nature-oriented place where it should be easy to slow down and stargaze (conditions obliging). The site is a short stroll away from the medieval estate's highlights, which include the Barn Cinema, virtual multi-sports simulations and a schedule of family events, including live performances and workshops. The estate’s listed gardens and deer park are pleasant to saunter around, with plenty of routes (including forest walks) to choose from. Food is easily sorted too, with multiple eateries on the estate. The estate café serves breakfast, lunch, tea and cake. Meanwhile, the restaurant (in the medieval feasting hall) serves lunch and dinner. Local organic vegetables and eggs are also for sale in the shop, a few hundred feet away from the site. Should Dartington Estate somehow grow tiresome, a 10-minute stroll into the village of Dartington will lead guests to The Shops – a collection of stores selling glassware, jewellery, crafts and local delicacies – and the Devon Gin School. For a beach day, beaches are within half an hour's drive or so; Blackpool Sands, a scenic sandy beach, is a 35-minute drive away.

What customers say

This campsite gets high marks for its stunning location on the Dartington estate, offering peace, quiet, and easy access to gardens, Totnes, and the River Dart. Guests love the spacious sites, clean facilities, and helpful staff. A few noted the distance to shower blocks and occasional shower issues. Parking away from sites and the booking process were minor complaints.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Peace and quiet

Disliked I do not normally leave a bad review, but this site was not for me. I was tucked away in the corner of a field which is fine, but it was a long walk to the shower block over what I can describe as a meadow field .. there was no track or a path where the grass had been cut shorter and my clothing was soaked once I walked to the toilet / shower block , I also ended up with bites on my legs and can only assume from something on the long grass. I have been travelling the UK using many sites from professional camp sites to similar style fields .. but have not come across anything with the grass this length. I would not return tof this site ..
