  • Award-winning 80-acre site two miles from the beach
  • Pools, pub, fish and chip shop, sauna, steam room and gym
  • Five private fishing lakes, woodland adventure zone and nature trails
Anyone who relishes a bit of variety on their holidays should give this award-winning site serious consideration: there are buckets and spades of activities for all ages, both on site and in the immediate vicinity. Tucked into a valley, only a mile away from swathes of Blue Flag beaches, and a 10-minute drive from Dawlish Warren, Cofton Holidays has 80 acres of meadows, orchards and woodland laced with nature trails for visitors to explore. The facilities here will keep the whole family happily entertained for weeks: Cofton's indoor pool has massage jets and hydrotherapy bubble loungers, as well as a sauna, steam room and gym (a small additional charge applies), and there's a splash area with water jets to entertain the kids. Or set off angling instead at one of the five private fishing lakes, to bag a monster carp (24-pounders aren't unknown here). More? Kids can bounce around in the three dedicated play areas or explore the adventure zone in the woods, with activities such as pond dipping and bug hunting laid on in season; if it’s raining, there’s also a games room with amusements and a pool table. After these exertions, retire to the poolside patio of the Swan Inn for a refresher and a snack: the pub opens every night and serves up a good range of grub (breakfast and lunch are also available at weekends), plus regular entertainment including live bands, discos and karaoke in high season. Cofton also has its own fish and chip joint, as well as a shop for any vittles you might need. Wifi across the whole site (charges apply) means staying connected is simple, and it’s also worth mentioning that Cofton has excellent facilities for disabled visitors.

What customers say

Well-organized, clean park with great amenities, including a popular pool. Friendly staff, spacious pitches. Lots of activities for all ages, but can get busy and hilly. Extra charges for Wi-Fi/power (app issues reported). Some noise and dated facilities noted.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Taken to our pitch was great , and a choice of busy or quiet area was our fav part, as we live a quieter area and have never been given the choice before

Food - slow to arrive but lovely

The walks around the area

Disliked We couldn’t find the pizza place at lunch time

The toilets got dirty quickly and the soap dispensers didn’t work and the taps kept running far too long- minor things I know, but I’ve got space to write this

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Close to Dawlish

Disliked Payed for 1 night to then find out you don't get electricity and need a app to get it and pay but my phone is full so couldnt have any, Payed for WiFi but keeps buffering and can't get WiFi access for TV even though I Payed for 4 devices so couldn't watch the England v Norway match while spending over 3 hours trying to get it on my telly after being told not to turn up till 1.15pm, went for a walk to the chippy with cash to find out that they only accept cards so had to walk all the way back to the pitch ,bought a flat white coffee to be given a American one. So we really enjoyed our tiny bit of relaxation time we had planned, ahhh and the app for electricity didn't recognise us to have a booking on my girlfriends phone.

Liked Staff friendly at reception and showed me to the pitch

Disliked Very disappointed with my stay at this campsite. There was constant noise from children screaming and dogs barking, making it impossible to relax and enjoy my break.

The cleanliness of the toilet and shower facilities was also extremely poor. Every time I used them, there was hair in the drains and scattered across the floors, giving the impression that they were not being cleaned regularly.

Overall, the campsite did not offer good value for money, and the standards were far below what we expected. Unfortunately,I would not return or recommend it based on our experience.

Liked Clean washroom facilities although not close to our pitch

Disliked Our pitch was miles away from everything as high up as you could go, paying extra for electricity! No shop open for the time we were there, had a drink in the Swan pub staff not at all friendly in fact no interaction whatsoever just served us without speaking!

Power optional gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (maximum 8 metres)

Liked Clean campsite and sanitary rooms. The swimmingpool was great. We where impressed about all the fascilities for dogs and their owners. The campsite was peacefull and well maintained.

Disliked Room for improvement could be that in the restaurant the food was great but except when ordering the meal no one asked us for another drink.

7.5 metre power optional gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Nice sized touring pitches and plenty of toilet blocks. The complex for food and swimming was lovely. The young lady in Amelia's was really friendly and spent the time to talk to you, most of the other staff around the site seemed quite miserable.

Disliked The site is just too big, it's a long walk to get to anywhere on site and the gradients of the paths are too steep if you're at the top. The toilets were getting refilled with paper but not cleaned and all the soap dispensers were empty. The site is expensive and doesn't include electric, all other sites using Metpow allow you fair usage, so many kWh before you're charged and it holds £2 per day for your stay. The main problem we had was not that the pitch was covered in ants but they had covered the pitch in what must have been a whole tub of ant powder which meant that our dog could not go out on the pitch without getting white feet off the pitch which is obviously a health hazard. We had to try to brush it up and rinse it all away.
