  • Award-winning 80-acre site two miles from the beach
  • Pools, pub, fish and chip shop, sauna, steam room and gym
  • Five private fishing lakes, woodland adventure zone and nature trails
Anyone who relishes a bit of variety on their holidays should give this award-winning site serious consideration: there are buckets and spades of activities for all ages, both on site and in the immediate vicinity. Tucked into a valley, only a mile away from swathes of Blue Flag beaches, and a 10-minute drive from Dawlish Warren, Cofton Holidays has 80 acres of meadows, orchards and woodland laced with nature trails for visitors to explore. The facilities here will keep the whole family happily entertained for weeks: Cofton's indoor pool has massage jets and hydrotherapy bubble loungers, as well as a sauna, steam room and gym (a small additional charge applies), and there's a splash area with water jets to entertain the kids. Or set off angling instead at one of the five private fishing lakes, to bag a monster carp (24-pounders aren't unknown here). More? Kids can bounce around in the three dedicated play areas or explore the adventure zone in the woods, with activities such as pond dipping and bug hunting laid on in season; if it’s raining, there’s also a games room with amusements and a pool table. After these exertions, retire to the poolside patio of the Swan Inn for a refresher and a snack: the pub opens every night and serves up a good range of grub (breakfast and lunch are also available at weekends), plus regular entertainment including live bands, discos and karaoke in high season. Cofton also has its own fish and chip joint, as well as a shop for any vittles you might need. Wifi across the whole site (charges apply) means staying connected is simple, and it’s also worth mentioning that Cofton has excellent facilities for disabled visitors.

What customers say

Highly recommended, clean, well-kept site with great facilities for all ages. Praised for friendly staff, spacious pitches, and varied activities, especially pools. Some note high prices for extras like WiFi and indoor pool, plus occasional shower cleanliness/water pressure issues. Noise and nearby road mentioned by a few.

Liked The actual campsite is really nice and very clean. The showers are very spacious and clean.

Disliked The entertainment is pretty poor and the club house doesn’t have enough space to accommodate for how big the campsite is. The food places on the campus are very expensive but the service is poor. We waited 40 mins for our food and it came out cold.

7.5 metre power optional gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Helpful staff Indoor pool area. Shop is well stocked

Disliked Some areas were dirty, especially showers and toilets Shower blocks were closed at a time when everyone wanted to use them. Although there are other bocks they were a longer walk up hill. The pool area outdoors was ok but due to the number of people wasn’t as clean as it could be. The lifeguards were attentive And also very protective of folks

Liked Nothing

Disliked It felt like you was camping ontop of each other. That the shop can use cash but everywhere else on site was card only, cash is STILL legal currency. The shop was very expensive.

Liked I thought some of the staff were lovely on check in, the gentleman in the office was a little blunt. Shop staff were friendly and also some of the security were also helpful and friendly the staff in the resturants and chippy were very welcoming the Swan pub they looked like they didnt want to be there there was one gentleman who was very lovely there but that was all.

Disliked I didnt like the womans showers as they always smelt of poo and the cubicles were not cleaned properly they still had cobwebs i saw wet toilet tissue out side on a roof of one of the toilet blocks which I thought wasnt nice to look at. The internet isnt worth the money and the electricity now that you have it on a app doesnt work very well. Im not too sure I would go again. It us very expensive there too. The staff in the buggys drove like crazy people. And i couldn't see when quiet time was as our first night all we could hear until 1am was laughing and shouting for three nights.

Liked The outdoor swimming pool

Disliked Really poor food quality and lack of options for anyone who doesn’t eat meat.

Good selection of activities but you had to book and pay for most of them.

Charging for the indoor pool we thought was really bad.

Local attractions

Wandering just outside the site, the nearby clifftops have pretty walks; there are gentle bike rides around and about; plus beaches and waterways offering more sail-, paddle- and wave-powered action than you can shake a stick at. Take a bus (the stop’s only 100 metres away) to explore a bit further afield: this corner of Devon's jampacked with things to see and do, including castles, botanic gardens, zoos, aquariums, animal farms, model villages and adventure parks. It's a 10-minute drive from the site to spectacular Dawlish Warren, home to a sandy beach and a tiptop nature reserve.
