  • Holiday park a short stroll from the sandy surfing beach Croyde Bay
  • Surfboards and wetsuits for hire; surfing lessons available
  • Tropical indoor pool, indoor/outdoor play, beach café and kids' club
Sick of being rudely awakened by your alarm clock? Try a Ruda wakening instead: after a blissfully peaceful lie-in, take a gulp of fresh, clean air and stroll a few steps down to the golden sands and sparkling waves… Ruda Holiday Park sits right alongside the sweeping sandy surfing beach of Croyde Bay on Devon’s Gold Coast. Croyde is a popular destination for surfers, and it’d be rude not to have a go while you’re here. Guests can hire a variety of boards, wetsuits and other kit from Ruda Holiday Park’s dedicated surf shop, and instructors from the renowned Surf South West school are on hand if you want lessons. If the weather isn't playing nice, head for Ruda’s tropical indoor pool complex, where there are water rapids and underwater geysers, waterfalls, hydrojets and one humongous slide. This site is great for kids of all ages, with the children's club, adventure playground, indoor soft play area, tennis court and activities like 'tots and tunes' or character dining (this last one's during high season only). There's also a good choice of on-site food options, including a beach café and an ice-cream parlour, plus a sprightly schedule of evening entertainment, and comprehensive essential amenities.

Croyde Burrows powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The pitch was huge ! Short stroll to the beach and easy to walk to the village. As we stayed in low season the dog was allowed on the beach, which she loved. Great walks all around . I used the pool, it was busy and great for kids. All the facilities that you might need to entertain or feed yourself but we walked to the Sri Lankan curry cabin at Downend which was really good. The walk back was accompanied by a spectacular sunset.
Having read some of the reviews , I have to say the ge tel an that booked us in and showed us the layout and our pitch, was friendly and very helpful.

Disliked The shower block is a bit tired, but spotlessly clean.
£21 feet for bringing a dog is the steepest we have encountered and am not entirely sure it is justified.

Taw powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite (no pets)

Liked We had a fantastic stay at this campsite despite the wind try to spoil things. The site was clean ( toilet and shower rooms immaculate), peaceful, and well maintained, with great sea views from our tent. We had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The facilities were excellent, and the staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. It was a lovely place to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great camping experience

Disliked The shop was quite pricey but we have come to expect this for camp site convenience

Liked The site was walkable to the beach, as well as only a stroll away from the village pubs

Disliked The feedback on the facilities was poor but I didn’t find them dirty. They are old, but were clean and well managed.

Liked Great location

Disliked Some on the staff need to be a bit more welcoming on arrival. The man that eventually spoke to us at check in was miserable, there was no welcoming on arrival.Just said the pitch number and walked off. There were signs leading us to the touring park but there was nobody so we could check in.Then sent across to the Burrows with no pitch number.went bk to main reception to the not so happy chap who really didnt seem happy to be checking us in.

Local attractions

Don’t miss the chance to explore the Devonshire coastline surrounding Ruda Holiday Park. Recommendations include a walk to the headland at Baggy Point where you’ll be rewarded with outstanding views; a saunter along spectacular Saunton Sands, and a delve into the dunes at Braunton Burrows. Croyde is a perfectly pretty village of thatched cottages, tearooms, pubs, restaurants, cafés and (but of course) surf shops. There are umpteen visitor attractions in the area, particularly for animal enthusiasts, who can come face to face with life-sized model dinosaurs and a host of their living, breathing descendants at Combe Martin Wildlife Park; practise their trout pouts on some fishy friends at Ilfracombe’s aquarium; or get hands on with the animals at the Big Sheep, the area’s most eccentric day out: sheep racing and stunt ducks, anyone…?
