Dragonfly fishing lake
Welcome

  • Award-winning park two and a half miles from Perranporth
  • Set within 21 acres of quiet Cornwall countryside
  • Free fishing on three lakes; wildlife areas and recreation spaces
A ‘national treasure’ is just one of the many (many) comments from very (very) happy guests of award-winning Perran Springs Holiday Park at Perranporth in Cornwall, of which it might respectfully be suggested that if you, the other half, the kids and the dog don’t have a rollicking good time, you might need to have your pitching licence revoked. Location first: Perran Springs is two and a half miles from Perranporth, five minutes’ drive from Newquay and centrally placed to explore award-winning beaches, family days out and a whole heap more. It's surrounded by 21 acres of Cornish countryside in a secluded sheltered valley, with countryside views from the site, and flowers, shrubs and trees blazing colour across it. And now for activities… The park has three lakes for coarse fishing, all stuffed with tench, bream, rudd, roach and carp of up to 20lb. The site tackle shop sells tackle, rods and other fishing bits; angling expert Andrew is on hand for advice. Fishing is free for all guests. Perran Springs is nature conscious and has set up stuff all over to encourage local wildlife and curious minds, including a nature pond, nature trail and a butterfly bug, and bee garden; look out on and around the site for moths and lizards too. If the kids still need to let off steam, the playground, Fox Recreation Meadow and running around the various open spaces should tire them out nicely. The award-winning showers and other amenities are kept ‘spotlessly clean’ (another guest accolade) and include a baby changing room and an outdoor area for rinsing wetsuits. Finally (woof), even the family canine will be content here, as Perran Springs is dog-friendly. The local pub, the New Inn within walking distance at Goonhavern, accepts well-behaved dogs in its beer garden. All in all, a park to put a definite spring in your step…

What customers say

Highly recommended, clean, peaceful site with spacious pitches, excellent facilities & 24-hr hot water. Owners are friendly, location's great for exploring Cornwall. Three fishing lakes are well-maintained. Note: some guests mentioned evening mosquitoes/gnats & wished for covered washing-up areas. On-site shop hours varied & WiFi signal inconsistent.

From the manager: Dear Guest,

Thank you for your lovely review. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the park’s friendly atmosphere, spacious pitches, clean facilities, beautiful walks, fishing, and our dog-friendly environment.

We also appreciate your mention of the gnats. As we're in a peaceful countryside valley with lakes, surrounded by wildlife they can occasionally be around, particularly during warmer weather. We like to think of all the insects supporting an essential ecosystem, increasing biodiversity.

We hope to welcome you back again soon for another relaxing stay.

Liked Great campsite, close to Perranporth (5 mins in the car). Nice setting. Spacious pitches, well maintained shower blocks. Access is good - right off a main road.

Disliked The only downside was that there was no on site food shop, not a major issue but a hassle if you ran out milk as nearest shop was a drive away.

Liked Quiet, peaceful, clean, plenty of washing up facilities
3 really good fishing lakes
Great location for exploring Cornwall
Really friendly owners
Massive pitches

Disliked The amount of mosquitos and nats at night
Not the camp sites problem but people should bring citronella candles, sprays etc to keep them away

From the manager: Dear Guest,
Thank you for your wonderful review and top score! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, spacious pitches, fishing lakes, and our location for exploring Cornwall. It's especially lovely to know that you found us friendly and welcoming.

We also appreciate your comments about the gnats. Being surrounded by beautiful countryside and lakes can unfortunately mean more insects during the odd evening, particularly when there is very hot sun followed by strong rain. However, this is few and far between, so most times any insects are not an issue and instead support a thriving ecosystem with greater biodiversity. We live on the park and also have a large garden pond next to our houses and we do not find it to be an issue.

Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us. We hope to welcome you back to Cornwall again soon!

Liked Bathrooms and showers were spotless, nice big pitches, bins emptied constantly, sinks right by pitches. Close to Newquay and Perranporth which is ideal for my family.

Disliked I had read reviews of a laundrette being onsite, there isn’t.

From the manager: Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review.
We are encouraged to read the facilities and park were constantly kept tidy and clean, as this is always a priority for us.
With regards to the laundry, we did have a launderette on the park, for many years, but this season (2025) due to dwindling lack of use and regular guests' requests, we changed the building into a Wi-Fi Room with free wi-fi access, an indoor dishwashing sink, ice pack freezer and tourism information leaflets. All accessible 24hrs a day.

Local attractions

Perran Springs Holiday Park is just inland from Cornwall’s north coast. On land, Perranporth Golf Club is north of the town and the long-distance South West Coast Path covers a 12-mile hike from Perranporth to Newquay via Fistral beach. Nearby Newquay isn’t just about the surf and its zoo: have a go at its golf club with views over the Atlantic or take a puff on the Lappa Valley Steam Railway on the town outskirts; horse riding, boat trips and deep sea fishing can all be arranged from here too. Or stay very close to home: Perran Springs has private access to a footpath going past the Carn Moor Nature Reserve and Conservation Area which is near the park.
