What customers say

Highly recommended campsite with clean facilities, helpful staff, and beautiful Cornish views. Short walk/bus to Perranporth. Guests love the bar/restaurant, play areas, dog-friendly perks, and relaxed atmosphere with live music. Great value. Some wind noted due to elevation, but a superb base for exploring.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Anchor barrow is a lovely, clean well run campsite with magnificent views. The bar and evening entertainment was an extra special touch. They serve breakfast and evening food which was all delicious and the staff were all lovely and work so hard to make sure people are enjoying their stay. I would thoroughly recommend.

Disliked The EV charging was a little steep but really grateful they had it so not a biggy.

The shower timers were a little short but again the showers were spotless so not major.

Completely uncontrollable but my goodness it gets windy!!!

Local attractions

Once you’ve got to grips with the waves at Perranporth beach, make your way to Newquay (20 minutes’ drive) for some of Cornwall’s most famed surfing spots, including Fistral beach. While in town, you could also visit Newquay Zoo and the Blue Reef Aquarium for some animal encounters, or hurtle down some waterslides at Waterworld Leisure Centre. If you’ve had your fill of ocean air, you can swap beach ambles for woodland wanders with a stroll around the 250-acre Tehidy Woods country park (20 minutes). Dogs are welcome here and, with more than nine miles of path to plod, there’s plenty of peaceful woodland and pretty lakes to explore. Dogs can also accompany you to Trelissick Garden (25 minutes) – while they’re not allowed inside the house or gardens, they can tag along on roams of the surrounding parkland, including the three-mile Woodland Walk circuit. Speaking of gardens, a visit to the Eden Project (40 minutes) is a must while in Cornwall – the huge indoor rainforest has all sorts of spectacular greenery and plants to see, as well as exhibitions and events for the whole gang. For more family days out, there’s Lappa Valley Steam Railway (20 minutes), Paradise Park and JungleBarn wildlife sanctuary (half an hour) and Flambards theme park (40 minutes). Closer to base, a trip to Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm (10 minutes) comes with tours, tractor rides, farm animals and, of course, tastings – there are fruit juices for the kids to try, while grown-ups can sample ciders and wines.
