  • Handmade yurts on a small peaceful farm on the edge of Bodmin Moor
  • Walk through woods to the River Camel; 20 minutes' drive to the coast
  • Sauna, hammocks and kitchen on site; walking distance to local pub
The name of this site tells you a lot about the place – but there’s more to Cornish Yurt Holidays than just those basic facts. For starters, the cosy yurts at this gorgeous little family-run glamping site were all crafted in the workshop right here on site, so they’re completely one-of-a-kind constructions. And the setting is pretty special too – this site is on the edge of Bodmin Moor, with the River Camel flowing in the valley below and fabulous views across the moors to the sea. It’s all managed for wildlife under a nature stewardship scheme, and it’s home to rare species including the pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site but they’ll need to be kept under control so they don’t interfere with the wildlife. The fully furnished yurts sit in their own wild green area, sheltered by gnarly old oak trees and with a fire circle at the centre for cosying up as dusk falls. Each one has its own wood-burning stove and simple cooking facilities, along with atmospheric lanterns and fairy lights. Shared facilities nearby include a kitchen (with fridge and freezer), a fabulous shower and some hammocks for quiet afternoons hanging about among the trees. There’s also a wood-fired sauna available for an extra charge. Tucked away in this lovely spot you may well feel like you’re miles from anywhere – but in fact you’ll be within walking distance of a shop and pub in the local village of St Breward. For more options, try Camelford (15 minutes’ drive) or Bodmin (20 minutes).
