Powered grass campsite

Liked: Very quite and well kept site. Staff helpful and friendly

Disliked: The hot water in the showers was only just warm enough to shower in. The hot water to wash up in was not worth walking to the washing up area. For what we paid I would have expected the hot water to have been a lot hotter

From the manager: Thank you Paul for taking time out of your day to leave us a review. It was lovely to meet you.

We have today looked into the problem that you had with the hot water and it is coming through with no problem, everything in the system has been checked. The only thing that we can think is that you were unfortunately coming along after the hot water had been used and the boilers had not had chance to catch up. We do apologise and hope that this will not put you off from staying with us again. The Oak View Team, Ruth and Rob. 😊

Level pitches, friendly staff, secure, plenty of washing facilities.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Beautiful bluebell walk. Friendly manager.

Disliked: Blocked drains. Shady pitches. How cold it is on top of the hill! Poor recycling.

From the manager: Sally, thank you for leaving us a review, we are interested to know what our customers think and the we can hopefully rectify any problems. We are pleased that there were some things that you liked.

Re: Blocked drains: There was one partially blocked drain, you came and told us and it was cleared immediately.
Re: Shady pitches: If you wanted to move to another pitch and had come and told us, we would have gladly done this for you.
Re: Cold on top of the hill: Can't change the weather we're afraid.
Re: Poor recycling: We have a brand new bin area and have taken all the bins away from the service points around the park to make it nicer for out customers. We attach an information sheet both to your confirmation booking and your handout you receive on arrival telling you all what goes where. The bins are all clearly marked. It is then down to the customer to make the correct choice as to which bin to put the rubbish in.

We wish you all the best and happy travels. The Oak View Team, Ruth and Rob 😊

Powered grass campsite

Liked: We went there to try out a new tent. The pitch we were given was great. Ruth was very helpful and we were not pressured to leave by a certain time on our last day as we were trying to figure out how the tent works. The facilities were clean and modern and well maintained.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much Pieter for your "all the tens" review. We do try as hard as we can, space allowing, to put our customers on the best pitch for the unit they have. We put a lot of thought into planning where everyone goes and if we are not manically busy, we do allow our customers to check out when ready. However, if it is very busy, we do ask that customers be off their pitches for 11am. This does not mean off site, just off the pitch ready for the next customer and our customers really help us out when they leave their pitches on time and we appreciate it.
We are pleased that you got to try out the new tent and liked our facilities. We look forward to seeing you again. The Oak View Team, Ruth and Rob.😊

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The staff were super friendly and helpful. The campsite was small so easy to access all amenities

Disliked: There were a few other people which were noisy at night
Was freezing to socialise with our group outside the tents as no campfires are allowed

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much for taking time to leave us a review. We like to know how our customers feel whether it be good or bad so that we can learn from their experience and hopefully make improvements.

We apologise about the noise from other people. This is not acceptable and we do have a quiet time which most of our customers do adhere to. No one spoke to either Rob or myself about this. Had you done so, we would have had polite words with the party involved. We suggest that any customers with a grievance do speak to us so that we can help, this is part of our job.

We are sorry that you were cold but our "No open fires" rule is our main big no-no. This is for the following reasons and is mentioned on PitchUp and on the handout we give you when you arrive so you know this before you arrive. We would suggest that if you want a camp fire, you go to a park that allows them.

Our customer's safety is the most important thing to us. When we are busy, we do not want children running about going head first into a fire pit.

Embers from campfires go up and come back down and burn holes through other peoples tents.

We have protected trees.

We did spend quite a while clearing up the huge pile of logs from your pitch, had you made a campfire with those, you would have been asked to leave. Having said all this, we would love to see you again and wish you all the best. The oak View Team. Ruth and Rob 😊

Would definitely go back again.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Clean purpose built facilities checked every hour. Good amount of toilets and showers which were warm and had plenty of hot water. Pitches nicely spaced out and the owners/staff approachable and very helpful. Peaceful surroundings with beautiful bluebell wood to explore, access on site. Plentiful water and sanitation points around the site. A pleasant surprise fish and chip van on the saturday evening.
A good mix of hard standing and level grass pitches dotted amongst and trees.

From the manager: Wow, Lisa, thank you so much for your detailed and very helpful review. We are so glad that you had a nice weekend and thank you so much for leaving us an "All the 10's" review. This makes Rob and myself very happy, we don't own the park, we are staff but both love our jobs so when we get smashing reviews like this, it really makes our day. It's also really lovely when people go straight home and take the time to write us a review pretty much as soon as they get home, we must be doing something right!.
Please come and stay again! The Oak View Team, Ruth and Rob.😊

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north. Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral. Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John. And of course, just next door is the Kent Showground, which hosts all sorts of events throughout the year (the most famed being the Kent County Show, which usually runs for three days in July).
