Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Tables and buckets for most pitches

Disliked No hot water apart from kettles (which was handy for a cuppa). Toilets ( which had no sinks apart from the trough outside) set apart from camping area and pitches were a bit confusing. Supposed to phone when arrive but no reply so text. Asked owners for help but had no reply, didn't hear or see anything of them apart from reply text to say thank you to aforementioned message.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked It was a nice area.

Disliked The number of campers in one small field felt too crowded. Only one shower was not enough.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The utilities are very clean and there are a wide range of things to use such as gas, fridge and freezer, washing machines, stove etc.

Disliked The foot bin was a bit unhygienic but understandable as there were a few problems with the bins. The tent pitch was also a bit small.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Plenty of room as only 5 (i think) pitches, toilets & shower are clean + fridge, freezer, kettles & pizza oven in the shared kitchen area.
Large field opposit which was perfect for evening dog walk.
Great location for me as only 20min away from my Mum so can combine camping with family visit. Will definitely be back!

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Everything.
There was nothing to dislike about this site.
A fantastic little, low impact rural setting..
The open sided barn, with all the facilities was basic, but perfectly functional and clean..
The added bonus for us, as we were only staying one night, was being able to use, a double gas burner (along with a pizza oven, paella dish kettles and fridges, if required)
It saved us from getting our cooking stuff out, for just one meal.
The camping area was small, but that was half the appeal for us.
It was so quiet, picturesque, a perfect place to chill out and unwind..
The views from our pitch over horse paddocks and open countryside were stunning.
The sky at night was massive, with minimal light pollution, which made for great star gazing..

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked We had no expectations as this site was booked for an early morning start close to the Ferry. However, the site was a rare gem! Easy to find up a winding hill. It is such a beautiful spot. I wish we were getting married as it’s the perfect venue-gorgeous barn & outbuildings using original farm fittings. I loved the concept behind the site as told in info boards. Lovely 😍

Disliked Nothing…suited us perfectly 😊

If the ground is dry, please drive through the yard (between the cottages and the shepherd's hut) and into the immediate camping field. There, you can choose an area with enough space for seven other people, or if it's cramped, the site will open up the next field. If the ground is wet, please contact the site before driving into the field. Those with campervans can park on the hardstanding in the yard.

Local attractions

Residents at Marwell Zoo (25 minutes’ drive) include snow leopards, pygmy hippos, Humboldt penguins and other vulnerable species. The Tropical House, which recreates a rainforest habitat, is home to free-flying birds from Brazil, East Africa and the Indian Ocean. When visiting Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (25 minutes), don’t miss Nelson’s ‘HMS Victory’, which took part in the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar, and the sail-like Spinnaker Tower, with a glass walk and far-reaching views across the harbour, the city and the Isle of Wight. A museum displays the wreckage of the ‘Mary Rose’, said to have been Henry VIII’s favourite ship, which was raised from the seabed in 1982. Collections at National Trust - Hinton Ampner (half an hour) range from 18th-century Italian paintings and period furniture to delicate ceramic figurines and plates. In addition to elegant gardens with sharply manicured topiary, there are acres of parkland with views across the South Downs.
