  • Dog-friendly site surrounded by countryside five miles from Winchester
  • A 15-minute drive to Mottisfont and 35 minutes from Stonehenge
  • Playground, games field and dog exercise area; firepit hire, logs sold
This is a peaceful campsite that welcomes families and dogs to its level and well-kept pitches, which are sheltered by mature trees and hedgerows. With facilities including hot showers and flushing toilets – plus a playground, games field, dog exercise field and footpath to a local country park – Folly Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a tiptop place to stay in the gorgeous Hampshire countryside. How to unwind here? Well, there are plenty of spots around the site to let your hair down (thanks to its peaceful and level grassy pitches, play areas, wifi, free showers and walks in the surrounding woodlands) but you’ll have your choice of many a day out from here too. Perhaps a venture into the South Downs National Park (10 minutes’ drive)? Into the vibrant city of Winchester (15 minutes) for its historic sites, such as the medieval cathedral, the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, the working 18th-century corn mill, Jane Austen’s house or the castle’s medieval round table, once sat at by King Arthur? From Winchester, there’s a short stroll along the water meadows of the river Itchen down to England’s oldest medieval almshouse and The Hospital of St Cross or the 25-minute ascent to St Catherine’s Hill for views of the city, a dramatic chalk hill and an Iron Age hillfort. As for ventures from the site, you might want to set your next target as one of three local pubs serving home-cooked food in the villages of Sparsholt, Littleton or Crawley (this one’s 25 minutes’ walk away).

Well-kept, clean site with helpful staff. Guests love the spacious pitches, good amenities, and proximity to Winchester. Great for families with play areas and fields. Secure entry noted. Some dated but clean facilities (new ones coming). Little shade on some pitches.

Liked Quite site, QR codes and ANPR barrier were fantastic for info and access. Good to see a site that allows camp fires.

Dog exercise area was perfect, well kept grass and fully enclosed, great for young dogs.

Friendly campsite warden.

All in all great stay.

Liked The clean showers and dishwashing in a heated block used for the colder months

From the manager: Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re really pleased you appreciated the clean showers, dishwashing area, and the comfort of our heated block during the colder months. Our team works hard to keep these facilities warm, spotless, and welcoming for all our guests, so it’s lovely to know their efforts are noticed and enjoyed.

We’re also excited to share that a brand-new, modern heated block will be opening at the start of next season, complementing the new shower blocks that opened this summer. We look forward to welcoming you back soon to enjoy the latest improvements!

Liked Lots of open space and rural setting but so close to Winchester. The bus stop just up the road for the bus into the city.
My husband said that the toilet disposal facilities were the best he’d seen. He even took a photo of it 😀

Disliked The toilet/shower block. Apparently the one we could use was the only one with heating. It was communal which I really don’t like and very basic, like a public toilet. The washing up room was in there too…..odd!
Wi-Fi was advertised but didn’t get any.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We're glad you enjoyed the peaceful rural setting and easy access to Winchester, and your husband was impressed with our waste disposal facilities.

We’re sorry the shower block in use during your visit didn’t meet your expectations. We open this block during colder months, as many of our guests prefer the heated, self-contained shower rooms and washing-up area. An additional washing-up block is also available, and Wi-Fi login details are provided in the welcome email.

We’re excited to share that new, modern, heated men’s and women’s facilities are currently under construction and will open at the start of the 2026 season. These will be perfect for colder months and will complement our existing modern facility blocks, which are open during busier periods.

Our team takes great pride in making guests feel welcome and maintaining the site and facilities to the highest standards. We are continually investing in improvements to enhance the overall experience. While we’re sorry your stay didn’t meet your expectations, we are grateful to our many loyal returning guests who appreciate the care and effort we put into making every visit special.

Adequate as campsites go but massively overpriced.

Liked Good location just off the main road into Chichester. Enclosed dog field. Some good ideas, just not very well executed.

Disliked We were really disappointed with the site. For £40 a night you expect a certain standard but this was just not met. Only one shower block was open on arrival. When it got busy at the weekend it turns out they unlocked a second block but kept the door shut and didn't tell anyone, so people were still queuing for the 3 showers and 2 toilets in the first block. Hot water was intermittent in the showers and nonexistent in the washing up area. No fridge available except at the weekend. Bins and toilet blocks are a looooooong way from the campaign fields. Didn't send welcome email until 5 mins after the check in time, and didn't offer any additional info at check in. ANPR camera on the automatic entry/exit system is a great idea but didn't work every time. WiFi didn't connect at all the whole time we were there. Pitches are in one big field with no privacy or anything to break the wind whipping across the site. Reception rarely staffed. They charge £15 to hire a firefit and then also sting you with £15 for a bag of firewood. It very much felt like they were trying to milk you for every penny whilst providing the bare minimum level of service.

From the manager: We’re sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay as much as expected, Ms Gibson, though we’d like to clarify several points for the benefit of future guests.

Our campsite is not located near Chichester — we’re based in Winchester, and full directions and information are included in our detailed welcome email, which is sent before arrival. Our wardens personally greet guests, go through all relevant information, and are always happy to assist throughout your stay.

This guest paid £30 per night for two adults and an electric pitch, not £40. We believe this offers excellent value for the quality of our facilities and service, and it is certainly not overpriced — a fact reflected by our many loyal returning customers.

Only one shower block was open during this guest’s stay, as it comfortably exceeds the number of facilities required for the number of guests on site at that time. Staff also make regular checks to ensure there are no queues. The shower block is heated and has two entry points, both fitted with soft-close doors to keep the block warm. These doors were never locked; they simply need to be pushed open after turning the handle. Staff assisted the guest when she was unsure how to use the handle, after which there were no further issues.

The showers have individual temperature controls on the front, and the washing-up sinks have a constant supply of hot water. Both are checked regularly and working as they should. A fridge freezer is available at all times, with an additional one opened at weekends — this is explained in the welcome email, and with signage. Staff assisted the guest when she was unsure how to operate the showers and also when she was unable to remember her pitch number on a couple of occasions.

Our facilities are approximately 100 metres from most pitches, designed to keep the site spacious and peaceful. The ANPR system works reliably when vehicles pull up close enough to trigger it, and Wi-Fi login details are included in the welcome email.

Reception is attended daily, and staff are on-site 24 hours a day with contact details displayed at reception. The comment about firepits and logs is also incorrect, and none were purchased by the guest — firepit hire is £15 for the entire stay, and a large bag of logs with kindling and firelighters is also £15, which is excellent value compared with local prices.

We pride ourselves on our well-maintained, tree-lined site and our team’s friendly, patient service — something reflected in the many positive reviews we receive. We’re sorry this guest didn’t fully enjoy her experience, but we’re pleased that most of our visitors appreciate the effort we put into keeping the site clean, comfortable, and welcoming.

Liked Very welcoming and helpful.
Excellent level large pitches with power.
Easy ANPR ENTRY
Great location.

Disliked Had a bit in an issue finding entry as came from other direction And it was dusk.
Can be a bit of a walk to the facilities From the back pitches.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! We’re delighted you found the site welcoming and appreciated the spacious pitches, convenient ANPR entry, and great location.

We’re sorry to hear it was a little tricky to find the entrance when arriving from the other direction — we’ll look at ways to make our signage clearer for future guests. We also appreciate your note about the distance from the back pitches to the facilities and will keep this in mind for future improvements.

We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay overall and hope to welcome you back again soon!

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Location, peace and quiet, facilities, safe space. Allows fire pits. The warden welcome.

Disliked Arrivals could be better. A sign saying ‘before entering, pull over and read rules’ as we drove in, didn’t see the rules board and pitched up incorrectly, however, the wardens were very understanding.

Liked We stayed post school hols. A dog friendly camp site was immaculate. Very quiet. Road noise in the morning noticeable but due to how quiet it is! Wardens, Jo and Kevin are 10/10. Friendly & professional. Walk rounds every evening. Perfect. ANRP car/gate entry. Safe and secure. Truly could not ask for more. Just come prep’d with everything you need.

Disliked This isn’t a dislike- could be a pro. Shops are a drive to get to. Can’t really find a negative!

Local attractions

Get keyed up on the local history… with hillforts, National Trust properties and historic steam railways around, there are many jaunts to take you way back. Closest to the site, there's Danebury Iron Age Hillfort (10 minutes’ drive), Mottisfont’s (15 minutes) historical priory, garden and country estate (15 minutes) or Winchester’s (15 minutes) cathedral, castle, markets and fairs. Perhaps the most iconic of the lot, Stonehenge (35 minutes) is a short trip away. Mid Hants Railway 'Watercress Line' (25 minutes) will take you on a ride along a 19th-century heritage steam train line, while the National Motor Museum (45 minutes) and the maritime museum at Buckler's Hard (55 minutes) are full to the brim with old artefacts. Once you’re done with country house tours – perhaps at Broadlands House (35 minutes) or the National Trust’s Georgian Hinton Ampner (25 minutes) – a festival might bring you firmly to the present again. The Boomtown Fair venue (20 minutes) and Carfest South venue (25 minutes) are both close by. But, how to finish off your stay? Maybe the 72-hectare arboretum at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens (20 minutes), the birds of prey experiences at the Hawk Conservancy Trust (25 minutes), Marwell Zoo (half an hour), Salisbury Cathedral (half an hour) or the kid-friendly Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World (half an hour)?
