  • Dog-friendly site surrounded by countryside five miles from Winchester
  • A 15-minute drive to Mottisfont and 35 minutes from Stonehenge
  • Playground, games field and dog exercise area; firepit hire, logs sold
This is a peaceful campsite that welcomes families and dogs to its level and well-kept pitches, which are sheltered by mature trees and hedgerows. With facilities including hot showers and flushing toilets – plus a playground, games field, dog exercise field and footpath to a local country park – Folly Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a tiptop place to stay in the gorgeous Hampshire countryside. How to unwind here? Well, there are plenty of spots around the site to let your hair down (thanks to its peaceful and level grassy pitches, play areas, wifi, free showers and walks in the surrounding woodlands) but you’ll have your choice of many a day out from here too. Perhaps a venture into the South Downs National Park (10 minutes’ drive)? Into the vibrant city of Winchester (15 minutes) for its historic sites, such as the medieval cathedral, the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, the working 18th-century corn mill, Jane Austen’s house or the castle’s medieval round table, once sat at by King Arthur? From Winchester, there’s a short stroll along the water meadows of the river Itchen down to England’s oldest medieval almshouse and The Hospital of St Cross or the 25-minute ascent to St Catherine’s Hill for views of the city, a dramatic chalk hill and an Iron Age hillfort. As for ventures from the site, you might want to set your next target as one of three local pubs serving home-cooked food in the villages of Sparsholt, Littleton or Crawley (this one’s 25 minutes’ walk away).

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Ideal setting - very rural and quiet. Pitches were very well maintained. Nice family atmosphere - but I noticed that as a solo camper i was accommodated away from groups and caravans, which I appreciated (thank you). I didn't use them but I noticed at least two freezers, for rotating your cool-box ice packs. Noted for next time. I booked a one night camping pitch but I'll definitely be back for a longer break next time.

Liked We had a lovely stay! The camping was calm, clean in a beatifull surrounding.

Disliked The sanitary building was quite old and needed some maintenance, and the new building for women was closed.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review and your kind comments about our friendly staff. We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the calm atmosphere, cleanliness, and beautiful setting of the campsite. We're sorry the new women's shower block was closed during your visit, there are some final adjustments being completed before it opens at the end of July, in time for the school holidays. We look forward to welcoming you back soon and hope you will enjoy the new facilities on your next visit .

Liked Vriendelijke ontvangst aan de receptie.
Grote kampeerplekken en een propere sanitaire blok.
De beheerders kwamen nadat je je geïnstaleerd had even vragen of alles in orde was.
Met andere woorden een goede omkadering.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Stayed with a group of 8 adults in 2 vans and 2 tents. Pitches were spacious and tidy. Facilities were clean. Wardens walking around the site each evening. Enjoyed a lovely stroll to the local pub.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the lovely review. Great to hear your group enjoyed their stay and found the pitches spacious and the facilities clean. Our wardens work hard to keep things clean and tidy and ensure everyone feels welcome. Glad you enjoyed the stroll to the pub too, it’s a nice little bonus having it nearby! Hope to see you all again soon.

Liked The off lead dog area. Plenty of room. The pitches were nice and level. It was nice to have met the staff when we arrived and through our our stay.

Disliked This time I just happened to be friends but I normally travel as a solo traveller with my dog. I was a bit disappointed that dogs are were not permitted in the toilets. I do not feel comfortable with leaving my dog outside unattended as many dogs are stolen when left outside. I wasn't able to use the WiFi at all. I had no signal.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your feedback. We're glad you liked the dog exercising area, level pitches, and felt welcomed by our friendly staff.

Whilst we have a policy of not allowing dogs in the toilet blocks for health and safety reasons, assistance dogs are allowed into the blocks. Its a very safe, dog friendly campsite and most of our guests are very happy leaving their dogs outside and using the hooks and drinking water bowls provided, but we understand this might not suit everyone, so we would encourage solo travellers with dogs to come and talk to us so that we can make an exception if required.

We're sorry to hear you had trouble accessing the WiFi during your stay, we'll check the connectivity on the pitch you were staying on. Thanks again for your review. We look forward to welcoming you and your dog back again soon.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Organisation, safety, clean and tidy

Disliked Not campsites fault, footpath overgrown, unable to pass. No other are to walk with dog.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're pleased you appreciated the organisation, safety, and cleanliness of the site. Thank you for letting us know the footpath needed cutting back again, this has now been attended to. Details of other local walks are also available on the campsite noticeboard. Our personal favourite is Stockbridge Down, less than 2 miles drive from the campsite with free National Trust parking, a beautiful chalk downland with far-reaching views, a variety of wildlife and archaeological features.

Beautiful, peaceful getaway this is an ideal place.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked For starters the security is excellent, in a beautiful location and a quiet site.
Very clean pitches and facilities.
This site does offer WiFi tho I couldn't seem to connect to it.

Disliked Lack of a wet room with seat and rails as the single shower room would ideally make one. Tho as a disabled person that likes to holiday i may be biased.
And personally it would have been nice to recieve a welcome etc rather than an email with instructions.. but that's my own preference. Email was clear on instructions 👌🏻

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. We're so pleased you enjoyed the peaceful location, high level of security, and cleanliness of the site and facilities. We're sorry you had difficulty connecting to the WiFi, there's usually good connectivity from the pitch you were on so we'll take a look at that.

We appreciate your comments regarding accessibility and the shower facilities, your perspective is very important to us and we'll take your suggestions into account as we plan improvements. Our new ladies shower block, which includes wet rooms, is about to open in time for the school holidays. We're sorry it wasn't quite open when you stayed but we hope you'll enjoy it on your next visit.

Our welcome email is designed to give guests the convenience of being able to pitch up and know where everything is without having to queue at reception. Our friendly wardens like to welcome guests personally on their walk rounds each evening.

Thanks again for staying with us, we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Powered grass campervan campsite

Liked very peaceful location in beautiful spot
nice dog training/exercising area
lots of local knowledge and other helpful info
friendly & helpful owners

Disliked 'wardens' coming to talk to us each evening which felt a bit militant
new facilities only open at weekends so had to use very dated showers
a lack of other facilities for the price we paid

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We’re very glad you enjoyed the peaceful location, the dog exercise area, and the local knowledge and support provided by our team. Creating a welcoming and helpful environment is something we take pride in, so it's great to hear that came across during your stay.

Our walk rounds are intended as a friendly check-in to ensure guests feel welcome and have everything they need. Our wardens are really lovely and not at all militant, we receive lots of positive feedback about how friendly and helpful they are.

The limited access to the new amenities during your stay was due to some final preparations before they open full time for the school holidays. Its personal preference, but many of our guests favour the smaller block that was open during your stay as it has private bathrooms and electric showers. We're currently investing in improvements to ensure everyone visiting us has the best possible experience.

Local attractions

Get keyed up on the local history… with hillforts, National Trust properties and historic steam railways around, there are many jaunts to take you way back. Closest to the site, there's Danebury Iron Age Hillfort (10 minutes’ drive), Mottisfont’s (15 minutes) historical priory, garden and country estate (15 minutes) or Winchester’s (15 minutes) cathedral, castle, markets and fairs. Perhaps the most iconic of the lot, Stonehenge (35 minutes) is a short trip away. Mid Hants Railway 'Watercress Line' (25 minutes) will take you on a ride along a 19th-century heritage steam train line, while the National Motor Museum (45 minutes) and the maritime museum at Buckler's Hard (55 minutes) are full to the brim with old artefacts. Once you’re done with country house tours – perhaps at Broadlands House (35 minutes) or the National Trust’s Georgian Hinton Ampner (25 minutes) – a festival might bring you firmly to the present again. The Boomtown Fair venue (20 minutes) and Carfest South venue (25 minutes) are both close by. But, how to finish off your stay? Maybe the 72-hectare arboretum at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens (20 minutes), the birds of prey experiences at the Hawk Conservancy Trust (25 minutes), Marwell Zoo (half an hour), Salisbury Cathedral (half an hour) or the kid-friendly Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World (half an hour)?
