  • Small, peaceful and rural site on a working family farm
  • With nature pond and scenic views of the Bowland Fells
  • Well situated for walking and cycling
A popular, peaceful and family-run farm hidden deep in the Lancashire countryside… what a lovely little place this is. Humblescough Farm is a quiet family-friendly site in a wildlife haven, thoughtfully developed and maintained by owners Robert and Diana to attract as many local creatures as possible to its wildlife pond and range of different nature habitats. Other farm features include a heated shower and toilet block kept to immaculate standards, a washing-up area, chemical disposal and recycling facilities, in line with the farm's environmental policy. Campfires are allowed and the dark skies here are most suitable for stargazing: yes, those two factoids are related... (Please note that fires can only be in the provided firepits and using wood bought from the farm; this is part of the site's health and safety requirements). Around the area, you might also want to stride or pedal off on one of the many countryside walks and bike rides surrounding the farm – a folder of local hikes and cycles is in the information hut along with brochures and info on local events and attractions. Or try the local fishing lakes, Beacon Fells Country Park seven miles away, or possibly travel to a busier time at Blackpool...?

Local attractions

From fishing to hiking, rollercoasters to canal boats, cities to countryside, there's lots to do here in lovely Lancs. Humblescough Farm is in a most lucky location: it's close to the coast as well as cities like Blackpool, Preston and Lancaster, and near both Beacon Fell County Park and the Forest of Bowland. Fishing lakes and clay shooting are both close to the farm. The closest town to your peaceful base is Garstang, lying halfway between Preston to the south and Lancashire to the north, about 10 miles from each. This was the world's first Fairtrade Town, so those who'd guess there'd be a decent handful of decent shops in town would be bang on; café, restaurant and pub people should see themselves sorted too. Walkwise, head out of town along the River Wyre or Lancaster Canal. Lancashire moorland, fells and villages are all within easy driving distance, as is the coastline of Morecambe Bay, a popular spot for scenery seekers and birdwatchers. Blackpool is also a bright idea for a day trip: Sandcastle Water Park is the biggest indoors waterpark in the country if you want to do something under a roof.
