Welcome to the site
Electric hardstanding pitch and picnic area

  • Family-friendly site on the edge of the southern Lake District
  • Handy location a mile from the M6 and a 15-minute drive from Kendal
  • Well-maintained site with bar, picnic area, pool table and TV room
Lake, forest, and spectacular countryside… what’s not to like about this fantastic setting in the southern Lake District? Add in level pitches, a goodly collection of facilities and a friendly welcome on site and you should be all set for a fab family break at Waters Edge Caravan Park. Because of its handy location close to the M6, this is a nifty spot for getting out to all of the Lake District and Yorkshire, or even popping up to Scotland (it's only an hour's drive away). After day trips, head over to the clubhouse to ponder the fine selection of beers and spirits in the well-stocked bar – if the sun’s out, take them out to sip in the fresh air on the patio. There's a friendly vibe at this place, so just try not to get too competitive playing pool with new pals or watching sport together in the TV lounge. For food, you may like to create a picnic or fire up one of the barbecues over by reception (pick up bits at the shop on site or set out for a well-stocked store half a miles away. Not in the mood to cater? Make a break for meals at the pub a couple of minutes' walk away. Other amenities around the place include outdoor taps for your drinking water, a washing-up area, a laundry room and bathrooms with individual washing cubicles, showers and accessible toilets.

Liked: Quiet and peaceful site with level pitches.
Very Clean Site, groundsman works hard.
Toilets and showers clean, nice warm water.
The resident ducks.
Nice canal over the main road if you fancy a walk, but this road is dangerous to cross due to speeding cars.

Disliked: Very dangerous site, safety wise if you have children, very steep drops with no safety barriers, into fast following river. ( would not recommend this site to people with children accident waiting to happen.)
Onsite pub closed despite reception being open, onsite shop also closed,
( advertised as being open until 6pm, this is a lie ), only seems to open when the man owner can be bothered.
Very dangerous main road if you want to walk off site, a national speed limit road, you take your life into your own hands to try and cross.
No information given about the site or local area despite telling the man on reception we have not visited before.
This site shop and pub could be nice little earners but man on reception said he was to busy to open them.
Constant noise of motorbikes screaming up main road of an evening.
Nothing onsite for children, apart from a pump tap, pumping dirty muddy water.

Liked: The site is quiet and small. The ladies facilities were ok/clean.

Disliked: The men’s toilet block was dirty and in need of a clean (dirty sinks, toilets and showers). The elsan point was old/in need of updating/repairing.

Liked: Everything. This fab little site has a bar, reception and shop. The Toilet and shower block has all been re done and looks amazing.
You have the stream at one side and the beck at the other making for a nice little walk on a nice day. There's crooklands hotel next door if you fancy a meal out and just across the road you can find the Canal towpath for plenty of walks with stunning scenery.
Even made friends with the woman on the next plot to me, we have had a brilliant few days away.

Disliked: A second toilet block would be good near the tent pitches as it at the other end of the site.

Local attractions

Head into Kendal (15 minutes' drive) for golf days or to shelter indoors at the local leisure centre, which has a pool, squash and gym. You may also like to take wanders around the town's castle ruins and museums or pop in for a pint (or a tour) at Hawkshead Brewery. Hop on horseback and make your own great western adventures in the surrounding woodland and countryside with the nearest horse riding centre (10 minutes' drive). If water-based antics are more your thing, it's a 15-minute drive to a lake for waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing and fishing. Or keep an eye out to see what's on at the Westmorland County Showground (10 minutes' walk), which often stages smashing family-friendly events. If you fancy exploring the wider region, it's an easy drive to Morecambe Bay beach (20 minutes), and the Yorkshire Dales (25 minutes). For kid-pleasing days out, aim to lose them for a while at Lakeland Maze Farm Park or head off to meet the animals at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis; both are around 10 minutes away by car.
