Campsite
New field for 2025

  • Wild-style camping on a peaceful working farm opposite Lindisfarne
  • A 10-minute drive from Bamburgh and 15 minutes from Seahouses
  • Well located for Ross beach; good stopover from the A1 two miles away
Elwick Campsite is set in a peaceful location on the spectacular Northumberland coast, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the rural north east of England. This site is excellently located for trips to the holy island of Lindisfarne (a national nature reserve), visiting the castles that line the coast up to the Scottish border or exploring the many secluded beaches in the local area. These pitches have uninterrupted views over open countryside and over to Lindisfarne. This laidback spot has a no-frills approach but does have some well-maintained basic facilities, with running water, portable toilets and a chemical waste disposal tank made available to guests. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Elwick Campsite (limited to two per pitch), but as there is livestock and wildlife all around, it is essential that they are kept on a lead at all times. The farm is in an easily accessible location, about two miles from the A1 and the nearest village of Belford (for a couple of pubs, a café, a small supermarket or a fish and chip shop). The nearest beach is in Ross, roughly five minutes away by car, followed by a lovely mile-long walk along a footpath.

What customers say

This well-run campsite has spacious, level sites with great countryside views, perfect for exploring the Northumberland coast. Guests love the clean portaloos and the owner's friendly, helpful service. Basic but well-kept facilities are adequate for most. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and proximity to Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. No showers noted by some, but didn't spoil stays.

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite

Liked Lovely large and level pitches, views of Lindisfarne, peace and quiet.

Cleanest portaloos I have ever used.

Disliked A bit hard to find. Maybe a 'What three words' in the welcome email?
In an almost empty site, we had been allocated a pitch right next to someone else! We moved.

From the manager: Everyone gets an email with a pitch number What3words and very comprehensive directions. As well as a site plan. I am sorry you didn’t see your email

Short, last minute stay but found a gem. Definitely be back.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked My first solo camp, the campsite is clean, welcoming and well organised, there are porta potties at least 5 regularly cleaned and maintained. There is waste disposal for Water, toilet waste, glass bottles, general waste and recycled. There are taps around the site for water very useful. Each pitch is clearly labelled with a number, a path to drive on is clearly cut down. Its a quiet, peaceful campsite with great views and very helpful owner who answered all my questions overall definitely recommended and will be visiting again. Thank you

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This campsite was exactly as described and had the facilities I needed for my 3 night stay. The view was gorgeous, and I loved how peaceful it was. Each pitch had loads of room, so it felt really spacious. Susan had some great recommendations for local places to explore, and everything was so close and easy to get to. I hope to be back next year!

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite

Liked Campsite is in a great location, you can walk to a bird watching hut and/or the English Coast path on the site (English Coast path is only accessible during certain months as the path changes to inland for some reason)

Disliked The pitches are on a decent slope, the lack of showers prevents you from staying for longer if you don't have the facilities
