  • Spacious touring pitches at a site 15 minutes’ drive from Morpeth
  • Druridge Bay Beach 25 minutes’ drive; Dunstanburgh Castle half an hour
  • Indoor and outdoor play areas; on-site pub and grill; launderette
Forget Me Not Country Park – well, forgetting this site on the outskirts of the village of Longhorsley, 15 minutes’ drive from Morpeth, is unlikely to happen. For not only is the place surrounded by spectacular countryside, but it also benefits from a pretty privileged position, about 25 minutes’ drive from both Northumberland National Park (to the west) and the Northumberland coast (to the east), where expansive sandy stretches like grassy dune-backed Druridge Bay Beach await exploration. Open throughout the year, Forget Me Not has spacious, hardstanding and fully serviced touring pitches, as well as large areas of lawn where you can set up the barbecue (for provisions, there’s a village shop in Longhorsley and a supermarket in Longframlington, 10 minutes’ drive). If keeping a watchful eye on your bangers and burgers sounds like too much work, the on-site Prince William Bar and Grill serves fish and chips and sandwiches, not forgetting desserts with lashings of custard; there are also a couple of restaurants within a 10-minute drive along the A697. Outdoor and indoor playgrounds (a miniature adventure course and a soft play area, respectively) make the site popular with families, who might also appreciate the parent-and-baby room and the launderette. A modern shower and toilet block includes facilities for disabled guests.

The Paddocks FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: The whole park and facilities were amazing loved the mains services pitches so much easier
Park was lovely and clean and well kept with great touring facilities lovely clean toilets /showers etc

Disliked: As a dog friendly park it was a shame that dogs are not allowed anywhere in the main complex only outside in the play park area good in the nice weather but not the best I would imagine I’m inclement weather maybe even a small are in the huge bar would be good

The Paddocks FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Nice area well manicured lawns, friendly staff , clean toilets

Disliked: You could hear screaming children right up to park area closing, parents seemed not to care. Not allowed dogs in bar, this wasn't ever advertised, thank goodness we had food in. Not the greatest area for dog walking

Liked: We were welcomed with a smile. The Receptionist advised of of everything we needed to know. Our pitch was well located, it was very quiet but in easy distance of the Restaurant.
The Restaurant and bar were very fairly priced and great quality.
We had a great stay and will definitely return as soon as we are able.
I fully recommend this site.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

The Paddocks FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: The site was very well kept, very clean and tidy. The facilities were great and again they were clean and tidy.
Great park for the children - just send them in wearing dark clothes as my children's clothes came back full of black marks (looked like oil) but think it was the rubber off the equipment and it's ruined my little girls leggings and my sons brand new coat 🙄

All in all a great stay and we would return in the future.

Disliked: The pitch we had was on a slope, even with leveling ramps we struggled to be fully level.

The Paddocks FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Fabulous location, beautifully maintained site and pitches, great facilities. Owners were friendly and helpful and there were many touches that showed they had thought of everything (including an Easter Egg on Easter morning). There’s a wonderful forest trail directly opposite the site which was a great place for a morning dog walk. The site is a fifteen min walk to Lower Largo beach which was quiet and dog friendly and great for walking. Regular buses to St Andrews and Anstruther made for great days out.

Disliked: There was nothing to dislike.

The Paddocks FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely well kept site. Pitch was fully serviced. Shower facilities spotless

Disliked: Had to pay £20 refunded deposit for key fob which was needed for the showers and barrier etc. Hiwever on day of departure has to wait until 10am for the office to be manned to enable us to get our deposit back. Suggest maybe have the facility to have a pending fee on a bank card and a place to leave the fob. We weren’t given the information that there would be no staff there until 10am.

Local attractions

Among the highlights at Northumberland National Park are the Drake Stone, a massive sandstone boulder; and Thompson’s Rock, also known as the Solstice Stone due to a hole that runs through it and that aligns with the midsummer sunset. The Simonside Hills are a top place for a hike, and you might spot deer and red squirrels. On a headland overlooking the North Sea, Dunstanburgh Castle (half an hour) now stands in ruins, but it must have been quite the forbidding stronghold in its 14th-century heyday. After checking out its ruined towers, walk into the fishing village of Craster to sample the local delicacy: smoked kippers. Step into the past at Beamish, the Living Museum of the North (45 minutes). This open-air museum recreates a range of settings typical of North-East England, such as a pit village at the turn of the 20th century, a 1940s farm complete with Land Girls, and a 1950s town.
