What customers say

Immaculate facilities & car-free fields for safe play! Spacious, quiet grounds with stunning views. Pub, cafe, pool popular. Some found it beautiful with friendly staff, though others noted overcrowding, limited trolleys, & spa/pool costs.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The service from the reception staff was very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation from the staff in the cafe to suit our food requirements was most refreshing and the breakfast we had was outstanding, compliments to the chef! The facilities for the campers were the cleanest I’ve ever seen on a campsite, really impressive. Overall had a fantastic stay and would definitely return again.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Excellent location
Great camping fields, spacious and not overpacked
Toilet and shower facilities
Play area and restaurant on site
My children loved seeing the ducks and rabbits (I can’t understand why people would complain about there being duck and rabbit poo, you are literally camping in a field in nature!?)
I’m on EE and I had full mobile reception the whole time

Disliked An extra clean done by staff on the toilet blocks would’ve been great, but still overall they were mostly clean and useable

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We liked the fact there was a cafe and also a pub serving food
The Nacho's at the pub were amazing
The toilet and showers were perfect
The pool was great.... Very quiet

Disliked The only criticism would be the cost for swimming
£10 per adult and £5 per kid
You get 4 hours, but who really needs that long
It was £20 for me and two kids,
But it is a nice pool

Probably slightly expensive for camping too, 80 for two nights
But the facilities are great

Recommend to friends Visit again

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The facilities... The camping field had a stunning view, the shower units were better than most places I have camped, possibly the best. Actual room to move and felt clean.
Cafe was tasty and reasonably priced and the pool too when you consider you get 4 hours for the price. There are beautiful walks around the site as and beyond.

Disliked The bin was taken from by the washing up station and didn't reappear.
The camping site might also benefit from some recycling bins if possible.

Liked Great site well maintained. Showers lovely and clean. Plenty of space to pitch up. Staff friendly and onsite cafe and pub great. Option to add on access to pool, gym and sauna for £10 p/p was great addition.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked pub on site, pool on site, cafe on site, quiet site, dark skies, plenty of space in tent field, good facilities, staff were very helpful.

Disliked showers not cleaned often. Toilet roll not refilled through the whole weekend. Not able to drive up to our pitch, had to park in carpark and ferry kit to pitch. This would be a big problem if single with young children for example.

Local attractions

Travel two miles to Grassington for a day around its tearooms and shops, then drop into the Grassington National Park Centre for info on what to see and do nearby. Walks leave right from the centre or from the village, including a waterside wander by the River Wharfe to Linton Falls, hikes over Grassington Moors, or a potter around the Grassington Riverside & Woods trail (pick up a leaflet for this at the centre). Grassington is also on the Dales Way, the 80-mile route from Ilkley in West Yorkshire to Bowness-on-Windermere in Cumbria: hardy types can tackle the 13 miles from Grassington to Yockenthwaite, or hike in the other direction on the 16-mile stretch to Ilkley. For cycling, take the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway from Grassington to Ilkley and from there to Bolton Abbey. If you'd much (much) prefer sightseeing and shopping days instead, the market town of Skipton is within 15 minutes' drive and Harrogate is within 50.
