What customers say
This is a relaxed, no-frills campground perfect for peace seekers. Enjoy a scenic spot near East Ayton, a short drive from Scarborough. Guests love the friendly vibe, petting zoo animals, and generally clean, though basic, facilities. Some note ongoing improvements. Great natural setting and local access!

Lovely owner, nice location.
Powered grass campsite
Liked Large grass areas with electric hook up at each pitch. Lovely & quiet in a secluded area, garage within walking distance for anything forgotten! Ponies, donkeys & goats were also welcoming! Open area so kids can play. Play park in village.
River running around site, nice local walks & can get bus or taxi into Scarborough.
Disliked Maintenance required on toilet door locks. Site is clearly still being worked on.
Grass had recently been cut but not collected, so a bit messy.

A really nice site of which we would stop again, nice location.
Powered grass campsite
Liked Lovely quiet site of which we stopped for three nights. Flat pitches and facilities were good, three showers and three toilets all of which were clean and plenty of room.
Showers were hot and no extra price for using them. Looks like site had been updated since previous reviews hence we found everything good. We tried site even after reading reviews and we were glad we didn’t get put off. Overall a lovely stay.
Disliked Not really a dislike but would have been nice if pitches were marked out so that if it did get busy no one be encroaching on your space. Maybe hot water tap would be useful for washing pots.

A nice site in a great location and lovely little town.
Powered grass campsite
Liked Location near a small town with lovely pubs and a restaurant. Nice little site next to a river. Peaceful and quiet. Clean toilets.
Would return.
Disliked A bit cramped the first night as it was really busy and hard to find a pitch as one wasn’t allocated.
The shower block was cold so didn’t use the showers but the shower cubicles were modern and clean.
Could do with a small bridge over the Ford for walkers.

Very quiet site. No traffic noise.…
Powered grass campsite
Liked Very quiet site. No traffic noise. Spacious pitches. Nice surroundings, streams running along each side of the site. Although some reviews said about the toilet/shower facilities being very basic, we found them to always be clean.
Easy walking distance to the village.
Disliked Limited rubbish disposal
Waste water disposal
No hand drying facilities in toilets

Nice little site, I would definitely stay here again
Powered grass campsite
Liked Peaceful and quiet rural campsite. No fixed pitches but plenty of room. It's a grass area so try not to drive like Lewis Hamilton and you won't get stuck. There's 2 showers and 2 toilets, we stayed at Easter and the site was reasonably busy but never had a problem using the facilities. It's simple and basic but has electric, water and waste disposal. A great base to stay if your exploring the coastline
Disliked You have to cross a shallow ford as you enter the site, not a problem in the car but I'm not sure you could walk to the pub without waterproof footwear.
If it's important to you the washing up facility isn't great. There's no hot water.
To be fair, the site is a bit of a work in progress. You can see the owners are making improvements

Wonderful location in the beautiful village…
Powered grass campsite
Liked Wonderful location in the beautiful village of East Ayton, perfect for scenic walks. The camping field is very picturesque, bordered on two sides by the river and a line of trees, providing shelter. It's a short drive in to Scarborough, 40 minutes from Whitby. There's a nice pub, two very reputable fish and chip offerings, a garage with a mini market, cricket club, and picturesque church, all around 15 minutes walk away. We loved the miniature ponies and the mesmerising goats in the adjacent field. They love it if you bring them carrots and are very friendly. This is laid back, no frills camping and I have to say, after spending time at campsites where you always feel you're being watched and that have so many rules, this site is a breath of fresh air. The owner is clearly undertaking a string of improvements to the site. Toilets and showers are basic and are cleaned daily to a good standard. Electric is good, we had no problems whatsoever. You'll need a torch to cross the field at night. It's very quiet at night, and conducive to a good night's sleep. If you like back to basics camping this is for you. If you like it rowdy, go elsewhere as this is loved by and perfect for young families. We've been several times now and everyone has been respectful campers and friendly.
Lizzie is wonderful and works very hard. It's like going back in time. I'm missing it already.
