What customers say

This well-kept farm campground offers a family-friendly vibe with lots of animals and activities for kids, like animal feeding. Facilities get high marks for cleanliness and being up-to-date. Great spot for exploring the Yorkshire coast. A few found Piggy Back field pitches too exposed and far from facilities, and some noted camper noise. Wi-Fi costs extra.

Piggy Back powered grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked Absolutely brilliant stay here staff were all super friendly and helpful the campsite was very well maintained. The facilities were all very clean and looked after. It's a very very child friendly site with walks round the site and the best bit is every morning the kids can go and meet the farmer and help feed some of the animals if they want to. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone.

Piggy Back primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We really like it here and the kids love the animals. Especially the chickens. Only thing I would recommend is taking hard standing tent pegs. If you have small kids it would be worth taking a toilet as it’s a walk down the road.

Big Chief wigwam cabin

Liked Loved the location, with shops a 5 minute drive away, near Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington, so provided a wide variety of things to do outside of the farm. Plenty to do on the farm with play area and farm animals to walk, feed and pet.

Piggy Back primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The farm and facilities were great. It was clean, and there were lots of animals for the children to see. The park is small but enough to burn off some steam with the kids.

Check in was easy and the staff we interacted with were pleasant.

Disliked We were up on the Piggy Back section of the farm, and I think other campers felt the rules didn’t apply up there. The site has quiet time from 9:00pm which is why we chose it because our kids are young (3 and 6). Some families were respectful but most were not.

Other parents were not watching their children, and there was a disregard for the noise levels. I’m putting this politely here but ultimately we only stayed one night because it was that bad. We nearly packed up at 10:30pm because it was unenjoyable. We didn’t complain to the site and maybe they’d have rectified if we did; we didn’t want to be ‘those people’.

I think it would have been better if Humble Bee sent someone up to ensure everyone was being respectful of each other. I’ll be looking out for this on future campsites. (We are new to camping).

Someone came up in the following morning on the quad and I think they were checking people were being quiet in the AM. We were already packing up by this point.

Also, it’s worth noting Piggy back is on a hillside not in the valley like the rest of the site, so if it’s windy you’ll know about it.

There are a few camp spots in the valley on the main site so I’d probably go for those in future if we came back. Maybe that section was checked with it being closer to the main hub.

From the manager: Thank you for joining us here at Humble Bee Farm and for your positive feedback about the site, facilities and the farmyard activities.
Thank you for mentioning about the check in which we aim to make as easy as possible and it’s also a chance for guests to meet our team and ask any questions if they have any.
Piggy Back is our newer campsite with stunning views across the Yorkshire Wolds with non-ehu and ehu pitches.
We are sorry to read that you felt some families that were staying on Piggy Back didn’t stick to our low noise policy from 9pm.
One of our team does inspect the entire site at intervals including an evening check and if there is any unnecessary noise, then it would be tackled at that point.
We send out a prearrival email which includes a phone number which can be used if a situation needs addressing; similarly, our office is open from 9am daily to 5pm where any issues can be raised and we would be more than happy to help resolve any difficulties that guests feel they have.
We are more than happy to help our guests if they have any queries so they can enjoy their stay to the fullest.
Thank you again from everyone at Humble Bee Farm.

Alot set up for the glamping pods, but a good space for a few tents.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Camped with friends on the main field at the end of all the glamping pods. There's only 5 pitches here and reasonably flat.
Plenty of space, easy access to water. A bit of a trek to the toilet and wash room but well kitted out.
Great play area for the children. And each morning you can go and feed the animals with the farmer, fun but gets busy.

Disliked Wasn't clear where each pitch started / finished, but plenty of space
No phone signal but there is WiFi available
Glad we read reviews before going, as we would not have been happy on the piggy back field, to far from toilets.

From the manager: Thank you so much for joining us here at Humble Bee Farm.
We very much appreciate your comments about the pitches, facilities and the Farmer Percy Club each morning.
There is information on our website about the pitches here at Humble Bee Farm, and when guests check into reception we also hand out a map with a tag and we are happy to help any campers with questions regarding pitching.
For readers of this review, Piggy Back is our newer campsite at the top of the site with fantastic views and the toilets are located at the foot of the hill, close to our shop.
We hope you can join us again in the future, thank you.

Piggy Back primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Tent pitch...great view .

Disliked Shower...3 showers but sign saying use 'orange shower only'

Large bin overflowing, had to move some rubbish to fit in the bin.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Many thanks for joining us here at Humble Bee Farm and for staying with us on one of our two campsites here on our working farm.
You were staying on Piggy Back which has great views and is a short walk from toilets and showers.
The toilets and showers which are for Piggy Back guests usage includes three showers and two toilets.
During quieter weekends, then one shower is available for Piggy Back guests to use, along with the toilets.
It is worth noting however, there is an additional shower/toilet block on the main site too which are available for guests to use if they wish.
With regards to your comment about the having to move rubbish from the main bin.
While we check the toilets, showers, wash up areas and all bins regularly, at busy time there will be a build up and guests can always alert a member of the team, either in the Hive or in the shop/reception if they feel there is anything that needs or attention.
Once again we thank you for joining us here at Humble Bee Farm and for your feedback.

Piggy Back powered grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked Location, site amenities, lots of things to entertain children

Disliked Distance to the toilets with young children, campsite was on a hill so was extremely windy. Would have been nice to have some grass to sit outside our campervan.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for joining us for your camping holiday, we are glad you enjoyed your stay overall.
We thank you for the comments about the situation, which is, as stated on the website, in an elevated position and it does get windy from time to time.
The site you stayed on is a mix of some grass and gravel hardstandings but thank you for your comments.
The nearest facilities are within walking distance of Piggy Back, so they are separate to the campsite.
We do advise, again on our website FAQs, for guests to bring a toilet tent if they have one.
We do have additional toilet facilities on the main site too.
Thank you again for your feedback, from everyone at Humble Bee Farm.

It's an excellent site just needs a few tweaks.

Piggy Back powered grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked Bathroom facilities were clean and modern the feeding of the animals for my young granddaughter was fantastic and she came back with fresh eggs every morning.

Disliked We were on the hill with no protection from the wind in a tent we had to use the extra strong pegs as the ground was very hard only ideal for camper vans .

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Many thanks for staying with us here at Humble Bee Farm.
We are so glad you enjoyed your visit with your grand daughter.
We appreciate your feedback re: the harder ground on Piggy Back campsite.
The hard ground and need for strong tent pegs is mentioned on the website and we do sell special tent pegs and mallets in our onsite shop if guests attend without these items.
We do get campers on Piggy Back who comment about the lovely views from this part of the site, which is just a short walk from toilets, showers and our onsite shop.
We thank you again for your comments, from everyone at Humble Bee Farm.

Local attractions

Countryside, coast, beaches, forests, moors and family days out… all ages and tastes are easily sorted around here. Make for the Yorkshire coast as a first stop, to Scarborough 20 minutes’ drive away for Scarborough Castle, SEA LIFE Scarborough, the seaside amusements and picking up fresh seafood at the harbour fish market. From Scarborough, head north to Whitby (35 minutes, or about 50 from the farm) for its famed abbey (and fish and chips), or the same distance in the other direction for spotting the thousands of seabirds clustered around Flamborough Head. There’s much to see inland too, such as Eden Camp at Malton (30 minutes), recreating the sights, sounds – and smells – of World War II; woodland hikes at Dalby Forest, also 30 minutes away, and seeing the splendour of the stately home Castle Howard (40 minutes). Or have a puff on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway on its spectacularly scenic route from Pickering (40 minutes’ drive) across the moors to Whitby.
