  • Quiet adults-only pitches on a working arable farm in East Yorkshire
  • York and Castle Howard 25 minutes’ drive; the east coast 45 minutes
  • Direct access to the Minster Way; Stamford Bridge five minutes’ drive
The city or the countryside… what’s it to be? If you’re unwilling to give up either, make your way to Street Farm Caravan Park, set on an East Riding arable farm at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. There are plenty of rural footpaths within the vicinity – in fact the Minster Way crosses the farmland – and as a bonus, the stunning city of York is just 25 minutes’ drive away for urban activities and historic sightseeing. These peaceful adults-only pitches are on a spacious park that also makes a great base for visiting the North York Moors National Park and east coast beaches, both of which are within 45 minutes’ drive of the farm. There’s easy access from the road for units of any size, and the camping field is generously proportioned, with plenty of space between neighbours for extra privacy. The site is well-equipped too, with top-notch shower and toilet facilities, an Elsan tipping point and coin-metered electric hook-ups with water and grey waste points on each of the fully-serviced pitches. The pretty local village of Stamford Bridge (five minutes’ drive) sits on the River Derwent and is home to shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Fantastic site - very easy access and pitches are a good size and relatively flat - they are a hardcode base. The shower /toilet facilities are 10 star - absolutely immaculate and brilliant size, lots of hot water and strong jet - underfloor heating a real bonus. There are currently 2 shower/loo/washbasin rooms with an additional toilet cubicle- we did note a further 2 showers and a toilet cubicle are being installed at opposite end of block.

Jimmy is so helpful and was happy to pop by with £1 coins in exchange for notes to assist with the electrical supply.

We used the site as a base as had family in York centre so spent most days out in York - we did pop into Pocklington which is a beautiful village well worth visiting and we ate at No 10 Bistro & Bar in Stamford Bridge which we would definitely recommend for a really friendly welcome and fabulous food.

You will be given a barrier code for arrival and you need the code to leave the site too which adds security.

We were in our motorhome and had our tow car which enabled us to get around easily so can’t comment on public transport. We went to Castle Howard which was only 25 mins away and worthy of a visit. Nice farm shop/ cafe just past Stamford Bridge heading towards York in Gate Hemsley.

If you use LPG then there is a great filing station in Gate Helmsley with easy access to the LPG and good price.

We will definitely return - thank you Jimmy for creating a safe lovely site.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Great site and facilities, level pitches all well kept and nicely spaced.
Toilet block always clean and tidy, and nicely warm on a chilly December morning too!
Located well for visiting our family in Stamford bridge and across the other side of York too.

Disliked Remembering to get £ coins for meter and learning how much electric we use each day 😉

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked This was a small rural site, quiet, peaceful and for us the perfect location for using the park and ride to get into York. It looks a newish site and it seemed they were still getting it established. The facilities block was stunning and heated, it felt like a touch of luxury.

Local attractions

One way to see East Yorkshire on foot is by following the 50-mile Minster Way between Beverley, York and the Wolds, and handily for Street Farm guests, the trail crosses the farm. Anyone exploring under pedal power can access the Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Route near Pocklington (half an hour by bike). Two bucket-list attractions are within 25 minutes’ drive of the site: namely York with its spectacular Gothic minster, Roman/medieval walls and entertaining history museums, and gorgeous Castle Howard, designed by Sir John Vanbrugh and surrounded by parkland filled with sculptures and follies. Landscape architect Capability Brown had a hand in the gardens at Georgian-era Sledmere House (20 minutes), where kids bored with culture can pat ponies and feed lambs (in spring) at the Rare Breed Conservation Farm Park. If a little more activity is required, have a go at watersports at Allerthorpe Lakeland Park (20 minutes), where there’s also an aqua park for kids to fling themselves around on. And of course the east coast is only 45 minutes away by car; take your pick of peaceful walks along the sandy beach at Skipsea, or head for the two stretches of sand backed by amusement arcades and cafés in Bridlington.
