Hardstanding electric touring pitch

General

  • Family park close to the beach
  • Well-stocked fishing lake on site, plus bait and tackle shop
  • Pool, sauna, steam room, gym, indoor/outdoor play and bar-restaurant

Don’t forget your bucket and spade... a golden sandy beach is a mere stroll from Sand-le-Mere Caravan & Leisure Park...

The beach is only the beginning at this smart family site, where the owners have invested £4 million on a swish range of activities and facilities. Tiddlers, small sorts and bigger kids will all be sorted at the indoor heated pool with a kids' splashzone and waterslide; the indoor soft play areas and the outdoor adventure playground... there are also pool tables, amusements and crazy golf for family comps indoors and out.

And for the grownups? They might care to venture along to the well-equipped gym, or, if that's most certainly not an option on hol, to simmer gently in the sauna and steam room... Anglers are excellently catered for here: a coarse fishing lake is on site, and the stretch of coast from Bridlington to Spurn Point is so famed for fishing that Sand-le-Mere hosts the annual European Beach Fishing Championships...

Whatever you opt for, collect the kids for an evening in the bar-restaurant, where there's also Sky Sports, a café and takeaway.

Friendly staff, good pitches, clean warm toilets and showers
Kids entertainment was spot on, the kids park near complex is good
The shop is little but has everything you could need while on site and isnt overpriced

    Disliked:

    Speeding cars/Van's
Shower and toilet block not on touring pitch
Waste water and toilet waste is poured into a hole in ground?
Touring check In is posted as soon as you get to site and directs you to pitches, if the lovely warden lady isnt there your a bit puzzled
Beach access we found was a sheer cliff drop which wasnt cordoned or fenced off, very dangerous
As you walk through the site it does look a bit run down between the statics, not very well kept

    Clean loos

    Disliked:

On arrival the reception was closed before 7.30 the confermation information stated 8.00pm. another customer helped me find a member of staff to get booked in, which I was then told to go to another bar, after a wait I was given a pack wasn't told anything including the codes for the toilet facilities.
The camp site is behind the entertainment center so all night could here the noise including the base boom boom, your residence there sit in the bar getting drunk dailynot very nice to see the atmosphere there was horrible people were drinking their own drinks outside the bar. Someone had loud spearkers which was playing loud music, outside the bar. A caravan near by was smashed up police were called.
The place was clean but the stupid code system for he loos never seen anything like it we checked out early wasn't asked why or if we had a good stay .
Will always recommend DON'T STAY HERE EVER.

Good family site. 05/26/2019

  • Liked:

The friendliness of staff - at reception and in the bar / entertainment.

Something for everyone but mostly designed around families. Liked the idea of the POD - was not aware of this service - own facilities even at an extra cost - but would consider this if visiting again.
Bus from the site into Withernsea but last bus back is 12.45pm and only extends to 14.45pm when schools are on holiday.

    Disliked:

The position of the touring field to reception / entertainment area which is quite a long way for people with poor mobility and downhill/ uphill on return.

For people with mobility scooters they would manage but without (and no car if staying in a Motorhome) this is a problem. There would then be an issue of leaving the scooter if going into the entertainment area..

There appears to be a shortcut made (by customers? ) but there is a sign up by management saying this is not a through route and alternative route should be used. If this route was made safe it would be a big help for all touring customers and for static caravan users near the field.

Local attractions

York’s many attractions cater to all tastes: history hounds, culture vultures, wannabe Vikings, shopaholics, and train- and plane- spotters. Scale the soaring heights of the Minster, plough the gory depths of the dungeons, or lose all sense of direction in the massive York Maze...

Hull (35 minutes' drive) is well worth a visit, for its fab aquarium, transport and maritime museums, Ferens Art Gallery, and William Wilberforce House. Visitors can also go messing around on various boats, including the Spurn Lightship, and then there’s the ice rink, great shopping, theatres and more.

Another recommendation is to work your way along the Yorkshire coastline, to sample the spooky drama of Whitby Abbey, the classic seaside attractions of Scarborough, and the beaches at Bridlington and Hornsea. Nature buffs can make for the huge white cliffs of Flamborough Head, home to thousands of nesting seabirds; other options for ornithologists include the North Cave Wetlands, or Spurn Point.

For the kids, try Flamingo Land theme park, get out the wellies for a trip to Honeysuckle Farm in Hornsea, or let them Go Ape in the treetops in Dalby Forest.

The area is peppered with golf courses and equestrian centres too: for something a bit different, guests can book in for a beginner’s polo lesson at Beverley Polo Club nearby. Other options include sailing, rowing, fishing and boat tours at Hornsea Mere (30 minutes), taking in a footie or rugby match in Hull, or feeling lucky (perhaps) at the horse racing of York and Beverley.

Must see

  • The Deep (13.2 miles)
  • Ferens Art Gallery (13.5 miles)
  • Far Ings National Nature Reserve (19.5 miles)

National Trust

  • Maister House (13.2 miles)
