  • Well-equipped family holiday park on the East Yorkshire coast
  • Hornsea beach 10 minutes' drive away; 40 minutes to Hull
  • Indoor pool, spa, restaurant and theatre on site, plus beach access
Bike rides, beach days, pool splashing, spa relaxing, fishing, golf, city days, country walks… and that’s just the start of the list of things you can get up to while staying at Skirlington Leisure Park, in a fine spot on the East Yorkshire coast between Skipsea and Atwick. It’s safe to say that, whatever your interests, you’re extremely unlikely to get bored at this family-friendly park, which has both excellent on-site facilities and heaps of things to do in the local area. When you arrive, no doubt the first thing you’ll note is the beach – this park overlooks the coast, so it’s great for a day on the sand or a coastal dog walk (dogs being welcome at the park, by the way). Look in the other direction and it’s all countryside, with plenty of paths and bridleways for easy walks and more adventurous bike rides. Pony trekking, sailing and watersports are all nearby too, and there’s a 9-hole golf course and driving range next door. Being out and about is excellent, but then so is staying on site – leisure facilities here include a heated indoor pool (with a fun mushroom water feature), a fishing lake, a well-equipped gym, a spacious playground and a spa area with sauna, steam room and hot tub. And if you’re a bit hungry after all that, you can either pick up snacks at the on-site convenience store, grab a takeaway from the fish and chip shop or take a table at the bar-restaurant for one of their tasty stone-baked pizzas and drink or two. Take a look at the schedule for the Pavilion Theatre, too – there’s live music, in-house shows and speciality acts to catch here.

Liked Very clean park. Lots of activities for the children.
Shower block basic but clean. Showers were brilliant.
Staff very helpful and friendly.

Disliked Nothing really to dislike but if you are picky, Toilets/shower block could do with updating.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback — we’re really glad to hear you found the park clean, the showers brilliant, and the team friendly and helpful! It’s also great to know the children enjoyed the activities.

We appreciate your comment about the shower and toilet block. While it's kept clean and functional, we do recognise the need for future updates and will certainly take your feedback on board as we plan improvements.

Liked Looked nice site as we arrived

Disliked Music blasting out till after 2 in morning
And the toilets both men and women's where soiled to the point you couldn't use them

From the manager: Hi, thank you for your feedback.

We're pleased to hear that your first impression of the park was a positive one, but we're very sorry to learn about the disturbances and cleanliness issues you experienced during your stay.

Late-night noise is not something we tolerate, and we will be reminding all guests of our quiet hours policy to help ensure a more peaceful environment for everyone. In regard to the toilet facilities, this falls well below our standards, and we are urgently reviewing cleaning schedules and supervision to prevent this from happening again.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we hope you’ll consider visiting us again so we can provide the quality stay you expect and deserve.

Liked Showers/toilets where clean.

Disliked This is not a place for a quite break. Kids zooming about the park on bikes and escooters followed by the parents doing the same.
Parties going on till 2am with loud music and shouting.
If you park 1 foot out of pitch the attendent is all over you like a rash but loud music and parties till 2am are fine.
The toilets are clean but wow they stink so bad.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

We’re really pleased to hear you found our shower and toilet facilities clean—our team works hard to maintain high standards throughout the park.

That said, we're sorry to hear that your stay wasn’t as peaceful as you'd hoped. We do aim to strike a balance between a fun, family-friendly environment and ensuring all guests enjoy a restful break. Your comments about late-night noise and inconsistency in enforcement have been noted, and we will be reviewing our procedures to ensure better consistency and quicker action when noise issues are reported.

We also appreciate your honesty about the toilet odours. While we clean them regularly, we’ll investigate this further to make any necessary improvements.

Thank you again for your comments—they help us continue to improve the experience for all our guests.

Liked I appreciated the vouchers for the free child’s meal when you buy an adults meal at Wonky Donkey. The food was lovely and the staff both in there and the pavilion had great customer service.
The venues were lovely and clean.
I liked the children’s play parks
Being able to go for a swim with my family. The staff in pool area were also friendly and helpful.

Disliked Now I am not usually one to complain but I need to on this,
Our motorhome was pitched behind the fish and chip shop next to the bins.
We had a 10 year old, my 22month old son and our dog. I was absolutely flabbergasted at how many Rats there were, I am not talking small ones either. One had entered an opening on our awning close to where we had placed our dog’s food and quickly left when my partner rushed in.
My son is at that age where he is wanting to run around everywhere and pick things up. I absolutely crapped myself when I seen him running in the direction of the rat. (Baring in mind this was on our first evening here) my fiancé did go to reception on Saturday morning to complain about this. He was told “we do have rats as we are near the seaside and near the bins. The attitude was basically put up and shut up. As we were on family time he refused to argue and walked out!
We were amazed to see that we had been placed in front of bins close to rats and a busy road junction knowing our booking was 2 children including an infant. I am just not happy especially as I paid £96 for 2 nights!!!!
As much as I enjoyed the children’s play park we were constantly getting static shocks along with others we could hear saying “ouch”
Disappointed as we had no beach access which we wasn’t aware until venturing out and being told by owners on site.

Myself and partner both use pickup to book stays and on this occasion due to the infestation of rats (which we do have video evidence ) this is a serious health risk!!!! Im anticipating acknowledgment and credit back to my account!

I have tried to upload photos from the videos but unfortunately not adding. I am happy to forward these on the a separate email or number for someone higher up.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your recent stay with us. I’m really pleased to hear that you enjoyed several aspects of your visit – particularly the meals at the Wonky Donkey, the friendly service from our teams, and the facilities such as the swimming pool and children’s play parks. Your kind words about the staff and cleanliness of our venues are greatly appreciated and will be shared with the team.

However, I was very sorry to read the concerns you raised in the second part of your feedback. I completely understand how distressing the situation must have been for you and your family, especially with young children and a pet involved.

I’d like to sincerely apologise for your experience near the waste area and the rodent activity you encountered. While wildlife can be more prevalent in coastal and countryside locations, this is not something we take lightly. We work with a professional pest control company who routinely monitor and manage the site, and I have asked them to carry out an immediate inspection of the area in question to ensure any necessary action is taken promptly.

I'm also sorry to hear that your concerns weren’t handled as sensitively as they should have been at reception. That is not the level of customer care we strive for, and I will be addressing this with the team directly.

With regard to your pitch location and the surrounding environment, I appreciate your frustration, especially when travelling with young children.

As for the static shocks and the misunderstanding about beach access, I’ll ensure both points are passed to our maintenance and guest information teams for further review.

Would stay here again and things are being done to improve it I think!

Liked Large site, a variety of things to do for the kids, a good location for exploring the coastline around it and visiting other beaches/towns, the swimming pool was ok, Saturday market was busy!

Disliked Needs a little modernisation in the toilet blocks etc, clubhouse had been done up, only frustration was the lack of food at the wonky donkey, and the lack of knowledge by its staff, ( there’s at least 2 diffferent menus which get changed when they run out of food)

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your stay with us. I’m really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the location, the variety of things for the kids to do, and the opportunity to explore the coastline and nearby towns. It’s also great to know you found the Saturday market lively and the swimming pool a nice addition to your visit.

I also appreciate your constructive comments regarding the toilet blocks and the Wonky Donkey. While we’re glad you liked the updated clubhouse, we do recognise that some of our facilities are due for modernisation, and this is something we’re continuing to plan for across the park.

Regarding the Wonky Donkey, I’m sorry to hear you experienced limited food availability and confusion around the menu. I’ll be speaking with the Food & Beverage team to ensure staff are better briefed and that menu changes are communicated clearly. This kind of feedback really helps us improve, so thank you for bringing it to our attention.

We hope to welcome you back again soon, and we’ll aim to make your next visit even better.

Liked The fish and chip shop was the only thing that we liked

Disliked The shower & toilet facilities were very dirty except that the wash basins were clean. There are no privacy cubicles just a row of basins thus is out of date compared to more modern sites.
I was informed that the pitch was fully serviced with hard standing and grass but the only grass was on the bank at the side of a road. A path was adjacent to the pitch but as there is no pitch boundaries marked, people were walking and cycling across the pitch , close to my motorhome. There are no hedges etc between the pitches. No WiFi connection and poor signal for phone.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us.

I’m sorry to hear that your visit did not meet expectations and that several aspects of your stay left you disappointed. We appreciate your honest comments about the shower and toilet facilities, and I’ve passed this on to our cleaning and maintenance teams for immediate review. Cleanliness is a top priority for us, and we’re sorry we fell short in this instance.

I also understand your concerns around the pitch layout, privacy, and the lack of clear boundaries. We’re currently reviewing our touring areas and guest feedback like yours helps guide future improvements. Connectivity and WiFi access are also areas we are working on, especially as we know how important this is for many guests.

While I’m pleased to hear you enjoyed the fish and chip shop, I regret that the rest of your experience didn’t reflect the standard we aim to offer.
