  • Scenic Suffolk countryside site five miles from The Broads
  • A 10-minute drive for boat trips; 15 minutes from Kessingland beach
  • Firepits and barbecues for hire; communal fridge; shower for hire
From boating on The Broads to skimming the shore with watersports on the Suffolk coast, Low Meadows is well-based for a host of hot outdoor activities. This scenic site has 14 acres of relaxation surrounded by the countryside, five miles from The Broads and 15 minutes from the closest beach (a windsurfing hotspot, by the way). Wildlife visitors are regular over here – that includes rabbits, deer, barn owls, red kites, bats, foxes, badgers, duck pheasants and partridges – so well-behaved dogs are welcome only on leads. Other visitors to the site include local musicians, who shack up on some weekends to perform live acoustic sets (you may want to join in with your own instrument if you have one). To keep your break feeling fiery, the site has a wooden shack with two small firepits for hire or a large firepit with seats. There's also a table, seats and charcoal barbecue here and a dishwashing area, drinking water point and fridge to keep food fresh. Other facilities on site include toilets. The site has a shower and changing room available through a booking system at a cost of £1.50 per person or guests may make use of the shower facilities at Beccles harbour, 10 mintues’ drive away. Speaking of Beccles, this historic market town is a good place to hunt down some tasty things to eat after you’ve run down your battery on the local countryside footpaths. Otherwise, the site is just 35 minutes’ walk away from the local pub for a quick bite to eat.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The site is spacious, on a hill, but with plenty level pitching options.
The communal shelter and fire pit is a great addition.
The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Due to pitching at the top of the hill, I got tired walking backwards and forwards to the drinking water, washing-up place and shower.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Peaceful campsite, liking the back to basic style camping. Use of fridge on site and able to charge phone. Parking by pitch and able to leave and arrive anytime is amazing. Owner really helpful.

Disliked: This is not a dislike at all, just a note of things that would help me as a family in the future which is to consider disabled customers.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Freedom, lack of red-tape amd endless rules. Pitch-up anywhere in huge field.

Disliked: Lack of facilities. Portaloos, only 2, and 1 so badly soiled it was unusable.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The pitch field was absolutely beautiful.
We had a lovely view and there was absolutely plenty of room.
We thought there was huge potential for this campsite. There is so much space it would be great to have something for children to do - my kids planned out an area of meadow with mown paths that they could play hide and seek in, a climbing frame and a zip wire.
There is a great covered seating area and a communal round bench around a huge fire pit...when there are more campers we were told that they have guitar based jams and sing songs here which would be fun. In peak times it would be good to have a schedule for when these things would happen so that campers could plan.
The contact with the owners was all lovely and helpful.
There is a home standard bathroom, shower and kitchen which was a nice find for a small camp site. There are two huge fridges and access to a freezer which was really helpful. Lovely arrangement for the wood and firepits which allow you to get wood/charcoal on site no problem. Nice touch to have marshmallows available too. For a very budget friendly we thought the good bits about the campsite were really good.

Disliked: We gathered that the entrance to the field is a work in progress so in time it might look different but it's not a picturesque arrival to the lovely field.
On one of the nights the Ellough kart track racing was in full flow so it was quite noisy into the night.
The campsite is close to the Ellough industrial estate so there is a bit of noise from that but its not that imposing.
Could be additional loos on the field. These are portaloos so get pretty hot and a bit smelly. It was the heatwave peak though tbf.
